Re: NEW BOSS
Sorry I wouldn't hire anyone who lies at an interview, end of story. Honesty is such an important trait in any company, you need a culture of openness and telling lies goes against that. At the interview some of the first questions would have been something along the lines of tell us about your time...

Re: NEW BOSS
If as has been suggested on here MR's control freakery inhibited the growth of the supporters club, how is it not his replacement's job to help grow it? If I had any ideas about getting more use out of Ravenhill would it matter, because there is so little feedback from UR if I suggested anything wou...

Re: NEW BOSS
Not really sure what to make of him tbh, I guess I'll wait and judge him on how he progresses things. To me he doesn't have a great act to follow. There are quite a few areas he could improve on quite easily like building the supporters club, getting more use out of Ravenhill in some form or other, ...

Re: Ulster exit on the cards for Botha ??
Can't see Botha leaving at the end of the season but it does bring up a very interesting question. With our new setup will Humph be able to attract a big name or two, who will be deciding on who to target? I guess it is early in the season but with the sourthern hemisphere teams over here is now the...

Re: Friends of Ulster
The URSC is indeed a huge untapped source but it was founded on a lack of clarity and without the views of its intended membership ever being taken into consideration. It was formed in the back rooms of Ravenhill by MR and a very very small handful of people who excluded the wish of others to have ...

Re: Friends of Ulster
Transparency is absolutely vital, in order for UR to attract more an more fans it needs to become closer to it's community. It can do this through letting supporters know the predicament it is in (does anyone know how good or bad it is?). When people complain about how badly UR is run do they really...

Re: Friends of Ulster
It's a great idea, I would certainly be willing to contribute, however a few changes would need to happen first. I wouldn't be willing to do it with unaccountable amateur era jobs for the boys types at the top. If the club was more transparent at the highest level, so we knew the money was going to...

Re: Munster A v Ulster Ravens
Very strong team, don't see the point in playing Nagusa and Caldwell though, would we not be better giving a couple of youngsters a game? O'Connor is a big concern for me too, IH has been instrumental in how well we have played this year, O'Connor needs to prove that he has the potential to be a qua...

Re: Edinburgh v Ulster The Build Up
Really don't like all this bigging up Ulster, just makes me feel like we are heading for a fall. I hope the players aren't reading all this stuff and believing it, they need to keep their feet on the ground and their heads focused on the game. Edinburgh have beat us this year and if we hope to progr...

Re: match live
Fantastic match, we were very impressive and really should have been another 15 points ahead of them. When I look back at last year with the criticism people like Boss got and compare it to how he played last night it just shows me we always had the talent, we just didn't have good enough coaching. ...

Re: Os match report
Things that really pleased me: The physicality at the breakdown, we stole a load of ball and could have been even more if Lewis was on his game. We got go forward ball from the pack, through the maul, through picking up at the back of rucks, and through the pods. Our defence was outstanding, very ag...

Re: No more hookers for ulster
Think we are reasonably ok at hooker, we have two guys who could easily be 1st choice. Think having your 3rd choice hooker being someone from the academy coming through is an ideal scenario, good balance between giving someone an opportunity to get some game time and having to rely on someone who mi...

Re: To the neigh sayers...
Very easy to be overly positive and overly negative. We had an awful performance in the first match and a superb performance in the 2nd against a 16 man (including ref) team in Wales. I think we will find this repeated during the season, some great and some not so great performances, it is just impo...

Re: Positives & Negatives: Ulster V Dragons
Agree with Brianc it was the speed of the ball that really made the difference. Whether you play a forward or back orientated game if you can't get quick ball you lose. I expect this is what the coaching staff will be focussing on, getting quick ball and suddenly the defence isn't aligned and sudden...

Re: Positives & Negatives: Ulster V Dragons
Have to agree with Freddie too. I could be totally wrong here but we have to consider the type of gameplan that McLaughlin wants to instil, it is a play for position and then capitise on the opposition's mistakes. There were positives, we did have a good amount of possession and territory. McLaughli...
