Sounds like a great effort from the MCB lads at Foxes.

Re: Ticking Time Bomb?

My son was 5'11 and 15 stone at 1st XV level but could out lift most in the gym but he was naturally strong with great technique and he put it down to brown Pringles. Some lads are just big/ strong by design but supplements are an unhealthy proliferation and I watched a recent BBC Wales programme on...

Re: Ticking Time Bomb?

Knight you are correct- I have been a gym goer all my life and I know the importance of split routines ( weights , cardio , rest etc) but the underlying problem is the ' pressure' young lads are under to gain weight to compete for their spot. The common sense approach of a healthy balanced diet and ...

Re: Ticking Time Bomb?

Odd thread that started off tidy enough and then tummies started rumbling and all I could think of was a portion of battered sausages with a quart of vinegar atop wrapped in newspaper. During my sons quest for weight gain he started using Maximuscle protein shakes but clearly it was having adverse s...

Re: Ticking Time Bomb?

Beatties pastie supper with a pint of buttermilk.... Now that's a fast weight gain programme... Memories of childhood... Walking from my grannies house in Tavanagh Street to watch the Blues on a Saturday with my da was always a great one especially when a trip to Beatties on the way home was involve...

Re: Ticking Time Bomb?

It goes beyond protein shakes as well which is a chief concern to me. The proliferation of anabolic steroids in young men has no doubt crept into the school gym as well as the local gym. Some of the gains in young players over a short period of time is highly suspicious and it's evident from the phy...

Ticking Time Bomb?

Whilst watching the MCB v Rainey game on Saturday past a friend of mine commented on the ridiculous size that players at schools senior rugby seem to be these days. My friend and I are both around 6'1 and 100 kg but some of the lads on the pitch made us look small. At 18 I was the same height and ab...

Re: Schools Cup 2016

:D Good point Knight....I like to think I have mellowed since I passed the 50 mark and the fact I can't get to many games anymore :D Using all my work leave to make the Ulster games this year and fingers crossed it will be worth it come the end of season  chuckle.... I think I will back Bang...

Re: Schools Cup 2016

I did fancy Ballymena at the start - true ...but I think Campbell will edge it based on form throughout the season. There isn't much between Ballymena and RBAI but they both suffered defeats at home to Wallace however Campbell have went from strength to strength. Ballymena are a better side than RBA...

Re: Schools Cup 2016

Not a ' white flag' mate... Just my honest opinion based on what I have witnessed so far. There's always the unknown factor the cup brings that throws up a surprise but Campbell just happen to be the bigger better side this year. Big physical well drilled pack with good set piece and a set of big ph...

Re: Schools Cup 2016

Campbell will beat MCB at Foxes Field because they are the better team. MCB have a decent side but lack overall quality 1-15 but they play with great heart. Yesterday's game is the first I have watched since the Campbell defeat and I was underwhelmed. Flashes of good rugby let down by lack of compos...

Re: Schools Cup 2016

MCB 15 v 0 up with a few minutes to go... Scrappy game in awful conditions but job done.
