Re: Return of Wilson

Delighted to see that Wilson is coming back. Have watched him since he went to Saints and there's no doubt that his time away has improved him as a player. Without going into the nitty-gritty of back row cover: who plays 6, 7 or eight: whether kaino is coming or not, it occurs to me that no-one has ...

Re: Is this helpful journalism?

What a hugely biased article. Makes no mention of the fact that Munster have two SA props - one of them courtesy of Ulster. Makes no mention of the fact that Court is a far better LH than TH. Makes no mention of the fact both Leinster and Munster have, between them by my reckoning, 10 NIE players on...

Re: Your Ireland 1st XV for 6 Nations

I suspect that if there were more Ulstermen on the Irish side, or more chance of them getting on, we wouldn't be having this debate. Remember the distant past - can't remember how long ago - when there were at least five or six regulars from Ulster on the team. Those were the days and whose to say t...

With all due respect to Best, he is great, but he's not in the same class.
Voted best hooker at the recent world cup. Surely that makes him world class!!

Re: New IRFU Player Contract Policy

IRFU to limit foreign players By John Harrington Thursday, December 22, 2011 The new system is likely to create some friction between the three provinces because there’s bound to be a scenario eventually where two or all three of them all want to recruit a foreign player in the same position. "...

by bazzaj » Tue Dec 20, 2011 9:26 pm I do not understand what you are trying to say. Are you saying that he is good because he has been our only available fullback? I would argue that he should not be here in the first place. If there is no home talent then we should get the best available foreign ...

Re: Aironi v Ulster Positives and Negatives

What does it matter who is "truly world class" and who is not?. The players we have are the players we have. It's up to Mclaughlin et al. to make the most of what they have. The fact is that UR have signed the best players they can get for the money within the constrictions placed by D4. I...

Never mind across the pond for football matches. Look at what Leinster charge for matches at the RDS. I complain every time UR put the price of season tickets up - but we do alright here.

Re: As it stands...

Because LNR and FDR control the AP and T14, they are their most important competitions. The IRFU, SRU, etc control the Pro12 and it is (and was never designed to be) their primary concern. Am I not right in thinking that the reason we are able to keep so many of the best Irish players at home is be...

Re: Aironi v Ulster Part Deux Team in OP

Lets get the win, then think of the BP, essential though it is. Thats the way the good teams work, especially away from their own lawn. Never suggested that it was a foregone conclusion. If we get to a position where we have five points in the bag THEN we can give the youngsters a run out. There'll...
