Re: Northampton v Ulster Roll Call

Looking forward to seeing the Ulster fans in Northampton again. You made a good impression the last time round. I would recommend the Wig & Pen on St Giles street for the beers and local ales. Have yet to try the food there as there is a wealth of other places to eat around there. The Turkish ne...

Childhood Sporting Heroes

With all the talk of role models and sporting heroes for kids after the Olympics I am curious to know who was the sporting idol you most looked up to as a wee lad or lass. When the school bell rang for break who did you pretend to be, while using 2 jackets or jumpers for goal posts. what effect did ...

Re: Michael Lynagh in hospital following stroke

Saddened to hear this. Speaking as an Irish supporter who has watched many a trouncing from the Aussies he was one of those players you feared and admired in equal measure.

Re: Royal Leamington Spa - anyone been there?

The White horse and Clarendon have outdoor areas. Though if I remember correctly you wouldn't swing a kitten, let alone a fully grown cat in the Clarendon beer garden.

Re: Royal Leamington Spa - anyone been there?

Been there a few times, don't know it back to front but a friend lives there. Would recommend: Wildes Wine Bar on Parade: If you like wine or a cosy quiet drink. The White Horse on Clarendon Avenue: For the pub grub The Clarendon on Clarendon Avenue: For live music Cricketers Arms on Archery Road : ...

Re: Errigle Inn

I must be a right odd ball.

Born and raised in Leinster but was quietly hoping Ulster would win.

Just to see success spread around.
As I have stated before I'm neutral on provincial rugby so long as its an Irish team winning.

Best of luck on Saturday. Don't doubt yourselves for a second. :salut:

I'll be in the south of Spain where the gospel of rugby is seldom preached so I'll have to make do with phone updates.

Well done. Sounded like a great game. I didn't get to see it. All eyes on the other semi for the opponents.

Re: Idiots at the game

I was at the last Munster - Northampton game in Feb. I was wearing an Ulster jersey at the game. I got a bit of light hearted grief about it but then one lad was saying I was very brave to be wearing it around here (in MK  ) , not sure if he was serious or not,I shrugged it off and he didn'...

Re: Henson suspended by Cardiff Blues

His problem seems to be that he just doesn't seem content to be a good (or possibly great) rugby player. I'm sure it pays him well enough but for some reason the lure of being a C-list celebrity ITV fodder is too great. I don't think there is anything particularly sad about this, it's not like he's ...

Re: Should Kidney get sacked?

My impression of the IRFU's approach to appointing managers is to wait until the successor is blindingly obvious to everyone before taking the step of removing the incumbent. So we aren't near that point yet.

Re: Other codes

Big fan of NFL and GAA. Haven’t the time for other sports as it is. I do keep an eye on other sports if an Irish man/wan is involved though. Funnily enough people mentioned Barca-Madrid. Never cared for it but came to know the politics behind it after a tour of “Le Camp Nou”. It has history that goe...

Superbowl Sunday coming up. Will be watching it in the local sports bar/place till 4am. Or I might stay in on the couch but we'll see. Work the next day will be a tough one. Should be a good enough game but I can see it panning out as the last time around. Brady to get flushed out by the ...

Re: David McWilliams: Ireland should bid to host RWC

Whether we would win a bid or not is another matter, but I'd be very interested to see what kind of bid we could possibly put together. Could we even put a feasible/profitable one forward? Do these things even make a profit. I've heard contrasting reports about New Zealand.
