Re: Bath v Ulster

A heavy pitch made the game hard work for both teams and the source of a great deal of taping of legs . It also took a bit off the pace of some players which made it easier to defend than attack thus all the trys had an element of individual exploitation of a mistake look to them . The injuries to t...

Re: Bath v Ulster

At least on channel 4 we might avoid how well X Y or Z played for Engerland in the World Cup or how close Engerland were to winning it and other inane garbage about how wonderful the English Rugby is. Gutsy as he is, I think Lyttle might be out of his comfort zone at this level . Glad to see Curtis'...

Re: Munster v Ulster Sat 5:15pm

If -- (and most coaches do ) -go for experience over form for big games -- its Gilroy for Lyttle But the back 3 depends on Addison being fit in my book if he isn't then I'd move Stockdale to full back rather than on the wing --- (to run into line either side of McCloskey) What is killing the Ulster ...

Re: Munster v Ulster Sat 5:15pm

Ulster wanted to play high risk but the play at outhalf was too predictable against a defence which consisted of PoM Strander Scannell and Farrell in mid field . Clooney’s NoC kicks where fine the problem was again they were predictable and the chasers became impeded and unable to contest the ball a...

Re: Munster v Ulster Sat 5:15pm

Trouble with Ulster was the fact Curtis played the game in accordance with his instructions - which made the Ulster game plan predictable and easy to defend - two on the inside centre . The wings didn’t get a pass all night . Possibly the weakest aspect of Stockdale ‘a game is against the high ball ...

Re: Japan RWC

Basically it was a first try win game with England playing catch up after the ref blew half their game in the first minute . ( over the ball and slowly move -- to slow the opposition recycle ) -- the fact that South Africa missed that penalty actually meant very little -- it was the fact that Englan...

Re: Japan RWC

The ref mark England’s card at the first break down— over the ball and not rolling away — slowing the opposition recycle is half their game. Basically it was a first try game with England forced to play catch up and running out of ideas when the fat boys failed to score from 5 metres . And now we ou...

Re: Japan RWC

Wales were missing quite a lot of players through injury when it came to the crunch. England have managed to get their big guns of Mako, Billy, Manu, Maro and Anthony Watson fit. Underhill also seemed to be injured for much of the time previously. There’ll be lots of happy Lionels on Saturday. Jone...

Re: Japan RWC

I won’t defend Kearney my point is changes on the wing are meaningless when they never get the ball . Defensively Earls has always been a liability but is still one of the fastest players in an Irish jersey . Where new faces are needed are the engine room back row and half back if those 5 players bu...

Re: Japan RWC

I said that in my opinion Ireland were refereed out of the match against Japan while Japan had the freedom of the ruck .

But in fairness Japan were well drilled and played a crowd pleasing game as Ireland floundered in predictability and ineptitude.

Re: Japan RWC

Frank the way the half backs have played what difference would Conway or Lamour have made .

All too slow all too predictable all badly executed
