Well Done Scarlets

I know it's probably not popular - there is more than a few on this forum who dislike Scarlets. But I've got to say fair play and well done to them. They are playing good rugby, and are in a pretty enviable position right now. It'll be interesting to see how they fair in the semi's. I wonder how lon...

Re: Cooney & Pienaar

Results are what matter, and how the success will be measured.
So if he performs and it contributes to us winning then yes.

Re: Nevin Spence: Always With Us

Was just thinking about this today. The doc brings it back - just 22, was a terrible thing.
No matter how much we bitch and moan about Ulster et al, this brings it all back into focus.

Re: Lions Tour of NZ 2017

Gatland is the coach, so if he wanted to call up the "Geography 6" he's entitled to. Equally if he pre-planned that he wouldn't play the subs unless injury on Tuesdays game, that's also done to him. What's not fine, is how quickly he has back tracked, and hung out players. The way I see it...

Re: Pienaar - BBCNi

Nucifora Is a fool. One of those people who looks at the numbers and makes a decision. The problem is what RP does for Ulster cannot be measured by numbers alone. The show was good, but it frustrates me that it was BBC. For it to make an impact it really needs aired on RTE, so Nucifora really is put...

Re: RBS 6 Nations 2017

It's easy to read to much into these things - but has Paddy just slipped down the pecking order. Interview with Schmit here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/38742900 "The first time I saw Rory play for Dolphin against Belvedere he had a fantastic game at 10," said Schmidt. "The...

Re: Kiss out?

See in the papers LK disagreed with Ferris re the general lack of aggression/physicality and pride in the Leinster Game from the Ulster players, especially in the first half. Personally I'm with Ferris. That said Great to see Simpson showing what that jersey means to him when he got on the pitch. S...

Re: Kiss out?

Cockerill would be a interesting addition to the coaching team. I wouldn't like to see him in the top job, but as a forwards coach he could probably instill some of the hard nosed aggression that our guys seem to lack at times. I doubt he'd want the job though, he might be aiming for assistant coach...

Re: Bonus points for 6 Nations

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Cygv1nbWgAAu8Dm.jpg No change to the final positions from last year if you include BPs... Actually, looking back as far as 2010, it makes very little difference (http://www.punditarena.com/rugby/arichmond/analysis-much-bonus-points-impact-six-nations/) England would have...

Re: Autumn Internationals 2016

Personally I was pleased - we lost our playmaker, our main ball-carrier and two of our most effective backs - yet still could and maybe should have beaten the best team in the world. Have to agree to an extent. Obviously would have preferred a win, but considering circumstances that wasn't bad. The...

Cowboys Agenda

Its a bit of a throw away line, but I saw this quote in the indo article from Mark Anscombe "Meanwhile, former Ulster coach Mark Anscombe, now in charge of Canada, has claimed that there was an agenda behind his sudden dismissal from the northern province in 2014. "It leaves a sour taste, ...

So we are the 4th best Irish province then?
Does that mean IRFU will stop applying the NIO rules to us?

Re: Skills v Size

I thought that one of the items David Nucifora would have been dealing with, was bringing the learnings from the SH, and start introducing them into Irish rugby. It frustrates me when there is so much talk about the SH having a higher skill level. It's no secret, nor is their training methods, so wh...
