I had heard everything was agreed but then Ulster went back to Bayonne looking for more compensation for the final year of the contract than had previously been agreed, maybe that’s where it all broke down.
Total shambles.

Re: Dan’s Not the Man.
There was talk he had got a role with the Scottish Sports Council rather than SRU? Hopefully on his way either way.

Re: Contract Situation
So the rumoured exits so far are O’Sullivan French Jones Shanahan Burns Marshall - retiring Carson Addison McDonald comes back from Connacht to fight it out with McKee for 3rd choice scrum half. You imagine Saunderson and Wilson go onto development contracts to replace French and O’Sullivan. Same wi...

Re: Any word on the Academy?
Malone, McNamara and McNamee were brought in due to a lack of numbers available. Munster were obviously a lot more thrown together than Ulster were. Malone started all of last year for Loughborough predominantly at 15 and has started at ten this year bar the last two games. I would be surprised if h...

Re: Any word on the Academy?
Disappointed to hear the news this week that Irish u18 scrumhalf David Armstrong has chosen to quit the age grade pathway, he was a talent who would’ve just missed out on an academy contract which will now go probably to Clark Logan next year Brother of Thomas? 16 overall, I think 8 new intakes. It wasn’t announced until mid July last year so could be a while yet before they confirm and announce.

Re: Petries Answering Questions
Why was McFarland given such a long deal (or even a deal at all) when you are fully aware of the players not liking/rating him? Why is McFarland allowed to be a control freak within every area of the organisation? Why aren’t journalists allowed free reign when asking questions or writing articles? ...

Re: Contract Situation
I believe Griffin is only coming in on a pre season deal initially, he is a good prop but needs a seriously tough pre season to get himself conditioned. AIL allows rolling substitutions which suits him.

Re: Where do we go from here?
Heres a question for King, does your insight extend beyond player recruitment? What exactly is the organisational structure of UR. Petrie CEO, Cunningham, Director of Ops but is that it. Is there a mangement board? Who ensures the aforementioned deliver on whatever KPI's, if any, that are set. I ca...

Re: AIL Energia Leage Rugby/Ulster League
Only Academy and Development players can play below 1B, given that Ulster have gone all in with the Queens partnership and academy players playing there, it’s hard to imagine those clubs in 2A having many contracted players.
