Re: Petrie departs…..

Best remembered for turning the club into a house investor spending half a million cash on something totally unrelated to sport never mind rugby whilst gurning about the loss of £700k on a match.. Maybe had they not got rid of the groundsmen without replacing them in advance of the cancelled game t...

Re: Richie Murphy - right man for the job?

Jackman is a stirrer and sitting behind Crawley won't improve his chances neither would the fact it is a one year contract. The damage in his remark is that it may dissuade players to come to Ulster although the fact remains Burns ,when he signed for Ulster was promised ? an Irish Cap which he got,...

Re: 6 Nations 2024

I think McCloskey has more reason to feel aggrieved than Hendy, given that Farrell has decided on a 5/3 split. It was bound to be between Hendy and Baird, and at 24, Baird is the future. Stu, on the other hand, has been passed over for Ringrose despite having shone in his last appearance, and even t...

Re: Ulster's finances

So football won’t go there, and rugby doesn’t need to go there…..maybe except for artificially set up matches. So GAA are probably the sole users…….and therefore the sole financiers. Imagine the Treasury in London deciding whether we put 200 million into the GB health service, education, controllin...

There’s frequently a painful play-off defeat but most Ulster fans only see about three losses a year.
When the 3 matches are usually the crucial play-off/knockout ones, I count that as painful. The end result is the same - we win fcuk all, season after season 👍

Re: Contract Situation

Maybe under “cost cutting” may force UR to make the decisions around players they could’ve made previously. Going forward there could be a painful few seasons, but a coach with experience of improving/bring through pups will be a must, as the squad profile changes. The entire coaching set up will g...

Re: Leinster v Ulster Mon Jan 1 5:15pm KO

If youngsters aren't t yet ready and there are alternatives then fair enough. My worry is that ulster is wholly reliant on 3 locks, one of whom is limited by the IRFU and regularly injured and another is a journeyman (AOC) who probably wouldn't even be in the top dozen IQ options at lock across the...

Are McNabney and McGloughlin injured? Rather have either of these two than M Rea. M. Rea at 8 ffs..... :banghead: DF looking to flame 🔥 out like Cowboy hopefully. It's going to be a long night. Re: pre-season friendlies

Potentially the biggest positive from yesterday which hasn't been mentioned is that Ulster got a pretty decent crowd for a nothing pre-season match in Cavan. I wasn't sure what to expect, but think playing the friendly there has to go down as a success. Lots of kids after the match getting their ph...

Re: 2023 world cup

I fear that Rob Herring has played himself off the plane this afternoon. Think Stockdale has more cause for concern. The huge fuss made by players and fans alike about Earls' 100th appearance has made it more difficult for Farrell to leave him out. If it's a close call, Farrell may decide that ther...

I remember the fleg 'n' anthem row that started as soon as it was announced that Ireland would play Italy at Ravenhill in a world Cup warm up match. IRFU probably remember it too.

Re: URC 2022/23 - Other Sides

Well done Munster. Not only did they serve up a ballsy performance, but they also did us a favour by giving Kitshoff a taste of what it's like to be an Ulster player. If he's going to fit in here, then the quicker he knows how to fail and fall short every time the better.

It was a good crowd in terms of size, as opposed to the poorly attended, 'bad' crowd at Ravenhill that Jackman was
referring to.

Re: World cup squad

Ulster boys will also lose out because their rivals for places will get the chance to press their claims in big semi final and finals games in next few weeks. Excuse me quoting my own post, but after watching Leinster v Munster on Saturday and seeing Ryan Baird's disallowed try, I found myself thin...

Re: Where do we go from here?

I was in the memorial stand and the level of knowledge was poor in a significant minority. Booing Brace was poor especially as he was mostly correct. But wasn't aware of any trouble in or around the ground. Many were angry with team, not Connacht or Ref apart from the ignorant. Not sure if it was s...
