Re: Cricket season

Key first few overs tomorrow. We need that last wicket early. Dont want to be chasing 225 or more. Still see England as favourites. I can see Ireland's batting wilting under pressure. Too many dot balls and panic setting in as scoreboard not moving. Bowlers have done a decent job in all 3 tests so f...

Re: L.I.

Diageo have always been anti Ulster.

Remember that back in 2007 they were the ones who sold that naive pub landlord Mr Brennan below average barrels of the black stuff for his pub in Toulouse and we all know what that ultimately led to the following day.

Re: Ulster Squad 2019/20

I don’t know enough about any criteria for players to get full contracts but given his performances and apoearances this season, I am a bit surprised to see Baloucoune on a development contract when some of the other young guns in the backs have moved on to full contracts. I am sure if he gets some ...

Re: Japan RWC

Indeed. Top player in his day and the fact he only got 56 caps says a lot about the attritional nature of his game. I read somewhere that he was only involved in 1 of Ireland's 3 championship winning sides, with no grand slam nor win over the AB's. He can still be rightly proud of all he achieved.

Re: Bill Johnston

Nice piece of business. I agree and certainly one who is worth taking a punt on, given current options at 10. With Burns, BJ, Lowry and McPhillips Ulster will have better depth at 10 than they have had for quite a while, although whether the strength is there to match it remains to be seen. Lowry i...

Mike - can you still remember what you are trying not to forget?

Re: STOP BRENNAN 2007-2027

Watching that semi final was as unpleasant as a visit to the bogs in De Danu back in 2007 and as painful as getting smacked by Trevor Brennan for mildly teasing him. Only metaphorically as painful obviously.

Re: Glasgow v Ulster, Fri May 17, 19:35

There are 3 very good teams in the league who overall are a step ahead of the others. Glasgow were always strong favourites in my book and showed how destructive they can be. Fair play to them. That was a chastening experience for Ulster. In some ways a defeat as heavy as that when you think you hav...

Once again the Ireland hooker throwing in and someone who has designs on starting and calling the Ireland lineout results in a mess at lineout time.

Re: PADDY JACKSON

I did just have a look at the LI twitter page response to the signing. Lots of negativity, although whether these people who claim to be LI supporters really are or not is a different matter. Unfortunately some people think he is a rapist regardless of the trial outcome and some think every club sho...

Re: Bill Johnston

Would provide some more depth at 10 which is badly needed. Wonder how it affects Lowry’s long term future as in whether Dan sees him as a 10 or 15. I don’t think Lowry will be first choice 15 and by all accounts 10 is his position and we have no depth there, so he should be given a chance. I do wond...

Re: PADDY JACKSON

This will blow over and is a bit of a non story, as he is moving from one non rish club where he has played all season to another non irish club. It isn’t even a top story in irish rugby circles anymore. Even if some of these people don’t want him at ulster they need to realise that he has committed...

Re: Glasgow v Ulster, Fri May 17, 19:35

I watched Peel and Tredders do a catching drill one on one during warm up. Peel took the ball about 5m or so away and booted it at the big lad. He caught every one and some were spectacular. I was thinking similar thoughts about his play last year and his dropping tendency, and to me this seemed li...
