We're going to do it. Rory Best has been at the helm for historic moments for Ireland and this will be another one.

He has also been at the helm for Ireland’s only defeat to Italy in the 6 Nations, only defeat against Japan and biggest hiding from England.

Re: Japan RWC

It seems as though some in the media put yesterday's malaise down to the absence of Johnny Sexton. Now whilst he may well have fared better than Carty or Carberry, he is a long way from the World Player of the year form he had in 2018. One of those where a player's quality goes up just because his r...

Re: Brive 2019/20

Seems like Olding had a good game overall and was responsible for creating the first try.

Re: Japan RWC

Would imagine the Dragons, plus the 2 Saffer teams won’t be contributing many either.

Is the Ulster contingent not 2 also anyway these days, with Hendy and Stockdale?

Re: RWC warm up matches

And got thumped by england at home and Wales away in their last 2 meaningful games against quality opposition.

Yet after all that we somehow get to no.1

Personally i think the rankings are only really effective in sports like tennis, where the top performers compete against each other regularly.

Re: Cricket season

Aussies choked in those last few overs.Dropped 2 catches, fecked up a straigjtforward run out and p!ssed away their review. Stokes' innings was better than Botham's in '81 Agrreed on both parts. Do you think Stokes is a better player than Botham (or Flintoff)? He has a better swing Stokes is a bett...

Re: RWC warm up matches

The Best/Henderson combination as thrower and caller has unravelled so many times now. If Best plays then he needs Toner there, which unfortunately weakens ireland’s all round game. Best also contributes very little meaningful plays around the park these days. Rory Best has been past it for a couple...

Re: Cricket season

Key first few overs tomorrow. We need that last wicket early. Dont want to be chasing 225 or more. Still see England as favourites. I can see Ireland's batting wilting under pressure. Too many dot balls and panic setting in as scoreboard not moving. Bowlers have done a decent job in all 3 tests so f...

Pleased for Olding but Billy Burns would actually look world class in Pro D2.

Re: L.I.

Diageo have always been anti Ulster.

Remember that back in 2007 they were the ones who sold that naive pub landlord Mr Brennan below average barrels of the black stuff for his pub in Toulouse and we all know what that ultimately led to the following day.

Re: Ulster Squad 2019/20

I don’t know enough about any criteria for players to get full contracts but given his performances and apoearances this season, I am a bit surprised to see Baloucoune on a development contract when some of the other young guns in the backs have moved on to full contracts. I am sure if he gets some ...

Re: Japan RWC

Indeed. Top player in his day and the fact he only got 56 caps says a lot about the attritional nature of his game. I read somewhere that he was only involved in 1 of Ireland's 3 championship winning sides, with no grand slam nor win over the AB's. He can still be rightly proud of all he achieved.

Re: Bill Johnston

Nice piece of business. I agree and certainly one who is worth taking a punt on, given current options at 10. With Burns, BJ, Lowry and McPhillips Ulster will have better depth at 10 than they have had for quite a while, although whether the strength is there to match it remains to be seen. Lowry i...
