Re: Contract Situation

Well let’s see, Jackman does get transfer rumours wrong a fair bit. I’m a fan of Billy, but this could only happen in the context of an IRFU-orchestrated shuffle you’d imagine, in order to get the front-line tens from an international pov getting regular starts at the provinces Could this be the 1s...

Re: Reset button required?

For me there is too much recontracting of poor performers, and too much jobs for the boys. Agree with too many jobs for the boys, your first point in the quoted is interesting though. If we have too many underperforming players, and discounting that it isn't a result of a poor culture for a second ...

Re: Reset button required?

Serious question, can anyone tell me something that Cunningham or Petrie has actually done that they were impressed with? I would prefer to replace both with one competent person.

Re: Leinster v Ulster Mon Jan 1 5:15pm KO

As per below article we have used 48 players in 10 matches. I get injuries and rotation, but that is clearly lets throw mud at the wall and even if it sticks lets not play it. Not good enough from McFarland. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/67808607 When Leinster do it, it's 'strength in dep...

Re: Leinster v Ulster Mon Jan 1 5:15pm KO

Sheridan is the first young Ulster forward that I've seen in years that looks like he has arrived with the required mentality and ability to operate at a professional level. He can carry, he can tackle, he can do the grunt work. I am obviously not a professional rugby coach, but he is certainly the...

Re: URC 2022/23 - Other Sides

Some interesting discussion on Twitter about central contracts being disproportionately awarded to Leinster players, and how this feeds into a cycle of them not having to pay for their best players, freeing up huge sums to pay for the likes of Snyman, which in turn breeds success, while other provi...

Re: Bath v Ulster

Any chance Dublin asked us to start Stewart and O'Toole, or is it all on McFarland?

Dan's contract is until 2025, so basically 18 months, totally guessing but I would imagine he wouldn't be on more than £150k, or am I miles off?

Re: Scrums. What are they for?

I think if World Rugby has any interest in health and safety it wouldn't allow multiple forward substitutes late in a game, clearly a recipe for increased injuries.

Doak and McCloskey can't make the bench, Shanahan and Moxham are somehow better options! Guess we aren't targeting this fixture.

Re: Best Starting XV 2023/24

For the debateable positions: Tight Head has to be Moore, superior scrummager to TOT 2nd row, Sheridan as Treadwell simply isn't good enough. I could argue he was the worse 2nd row when we played Munster Scrum half Cooney, brings class and quick ball FB Moore on the assumption Addison will never be ...

Re: Ulster v Munster

With regards to Munster, would be interested to know if their debts are getting better or worse. Are we talking about the IRFU eventually writing off a debt, or will Munster eventually clear it.
