Re: Ulster v Connacht

Biggest worry was the lineout again. Was right behind Stewart for two of them, nothing wrong with the darts, but Connacht seemed to have no bother working out where it was going with enough time to get a man up in front.

Re: Ulster v Connacht

Stockdale’s defence is woeful too. He keeps biting in when he should stay wide. I think he’s getting worse rather than better?? Doak wasn’t going to get the bloke for the try though. Who missed the second tackle for the previous try? Flannery or Addison I’m assuming. My thought for the last...

Re: Ulster v Connacht

Pantomime season has kicked off. "Ulster head coach Dan McFarland has said he does not judge himself solely on trophies but insists he and his players will not rest until they end the club's long wait for silverware." Maybe he was in Leicester seeing if he could pinch some silver from the...

Re: Ulster v Racing 92 Saturday 8pm KO TNT Sports 3

Sheahan has a good case to be the best in the world in his position and is comfortably the best, but would take Herring over Kelleher all day long and think Tom Stewart likely has a much higher ceiling than him too. The fact that historically all of pur hookers, Andrews included, have had pretty dec...

Re: Ulster v Racing 92 Saturday 8pm KO TNT Sports 3

He was only on for about 40 minutes in total, but though Rob Herring put in an incredible shift in the loose. Last year I was expecting Stewart to be first choice by now, but Herring has found another level.

Re: Ulster v Racing 92 Saturday 8pm KO TNT Sports 3

I'm sure the Raving management have had to spend most of the day trying to coax Cameron Woki out of his hotel room, such is the fear. Aside from number 8 (what the feck) looks a strong enough team though. Hoping for a proper shift from the lads. Quins turned them over at home last week, they're not ...

Might watch a bit of Malone v Ballymena this afternoon before the Ulster game. Hopefully a tasty derby.

Re: Any word on the Academy?

Any thoughts on why David Whitten hasn't been given a chance? Have barely see him play, but saw he wasn't happy when Croethers got his first start (obviously thinks he's a better player). I wouldn't know, but my first thought was that if he was good enough and wanted to make it as a pro then the Exe...

Re: Any word on the Academy?

Forgot that this tour was on, explains why QUB got an even bigger humping than usual at the weekend. Unsure of the value of a game like this, compared with just letting the guys play for their AIL sides, I doubt a game like this with scratch sides is going to be a step up from that in terms of stand...

Re: Dan’s Not the Man.

What's with the Jackman hate, out of interest? The only person i've spoken to who has worked with him spoke quite highly of him. From where I'm sitting, it seems to me like he did a very good job at Grenoble before things started to fall apart a bit after 'the incident', then would up at the Dragons...

Re: Dan’s Not the Man.

We’re probably too nice as supporters to our own players/coaching staff. I wonder if Mark McCall has any thoughts on that. Barge pole, sh#tty stick etc... Unless Wavey Davey gave McCall full backing to restructure, get his own people in and get the funding he's enjoyed at Sorries, why would he do u...

Re: What would you do differently?

I'm not close enough to the camp to know what specifically is wrong, but q combination of the performances on show and a coach going for interviews makes it clear that all is not well and change is needed. At a higher level the thing I'd want to see changed is an emphasis on the youth structures. Ki...
