Someone with the mental capacity of Donald Trump espousing authoritatively on matters they clearly are clueless about will always get belittled by me.

Of course, the countries testing extensively have far lower death counts. No connection of course. Can't be cos the ...said so. ...... So clueless that he doesn't realise tracing a positive find means you test ANYONE who has been in contact with said person - regardless of whether they are symptomat...

Which is of course why that rural de-centralised nation South Korea has had such success with contact tracing.

The resident .... is of course completely ignoring the other half of how to use testing to reduce spread - contact tracing.
You don't have to be symptomatic to be tested when you were in contact with a known carrier.

Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?
The UK government listened to the experts and followed the science. It'll take at least 12 months before we know effective the UK response has been. Either the experts feck up by behaving like proper academics with not a pragmatic bone in their bodies or the govt feck up by not listening correctly....

Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?
The timing of lock down is based on behavioural sciences and the Estimate of the required length of lockdown. Think for yourself instead of drinking the spoon fed tom kite from westminster. Its easier to lockdown and essentially kill off the virus if cases number in the tens or hundreds when you do...

Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?
This situation is unprecedented so the best predictive models are just educated guess work. All models are to some degree or another educated guess work. The UK government listened to the experts and followed the science. It'll take at least 12 months before we know effective the UK response has be...

Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?
I doubt if your predicative model is any better than those advising Government. Supposedly 2 unbelievably brad pitt assumptions were used: - It had the same virulence as the normal flu - It had the same R0 as the normal flu If true, 2 minutes on an excel spreadsheet using public numbers from China ...

Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?
I'm pretty much in agreement with what Tender says. Just a couple of things to add. I don't think any other government that we could have had in place at the minute would have performed any better. Both sides of the political/economic spectrum have things they want to protect, other than the lives ...

Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?
I liked the cut of Kier Starmer in the run up to the Labour election (that all went off pretty quietly, didn't it?) but the first headline today is him criticising the government for its mistakes. If that's his best opening comment, shame on him. If it's an out of context line that the papers have ...

Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?
It won't be beaten that easily unfortunately my Amiga, if you lock down society to beat the epidemic, and succeed in drastically slowing new infections, but then go back to what you were doing before, the epidemic can just come raging back. Who said about going back to what was done before? This, a...

Re: Coronavirus 2020 - What can I do?
Only 4 new cases in China yesterday. Seems this lock down phase is the way to knock this on the head. Contain it then mop up any pockets that might spring up Yep. Now just imagine if our governments had got their feck useless asses into gear and quarantined anyone coming in from any country with th...

Re: New Scrum Half?
He has a bit of a physical presence about him not the stereotypical 5ft 5 terrier. The day of that kinda scrum half was drawing to a close around 15 years ago! Unfortunately we've persisted with them till now. They need to be 80kgs plus these days otherwise they are a non-entity in defence - regard...
