Most recent security breach

Post by fermain »

As most of you know by now, the board suffered a security breach, and a sad, lonely, 'billy no mates' from the aither side of the globe did a qware bit of damage!

As a precaution against future events, we respectfully ask that you all change your passwords as a matter of good practice. This will help to prevent this from happening in the future.

You may also have noticed that many avatars are now either out of date,or missing completely. We have restored as many as we could find, but some are still missing,so you also may want to add new ones, or update your old ones.

The messageboard itself has been updated to the latest version, so any holes in the security layer have been closed. Some visual elements have yet to be re-coded back in (such as the white background around all the forums) but effectively, everything is back to normal.

Unfortunately, the normal 'contact' forms on the main web site are not available until another layer of security can be added, so the only way to get in contact with us is through the PM system which means becoming a member.

If anyone has any suspicions, or sees anything that they think needs addressing, please let us know via a PM or in this section of the website.

Perhaps a sticky in the other topics might be a good idea?

Fireman, any chance that Active topics will be getting fixed?

If you go to board index Colin and look across just above the red line above where it says "up n under" you will see the below writing in blue and it will highlight red when you mouse over it, will become clear when he gets the colours corrected again.

Someone somewhere is working on this.

ColinM probably got nothing. I was the same yesterday.

A short time ago, I got one (this thread).

List does now seem to be being populated - at least for today's topics.

View new posts is not even there now - was earlier. View active topics still only gives this thread.

Ah well, and against all odds, will just have to struggle on.

EDIT: Forget all above.

The on screen options and what they 'deliver' just keeps changing.

Well spotted cables and colin. All sorted now. There was a bug in the interim version of the board that was updated, where the default value was set to view active topics: off. I've now gone through all the forums, and turned it on, so all should be as before.

ColinM - Not for you Fermain.

I think have discovered why I feel the availability of options 'comes and goes'.

Can you recall if you formerly could access the View Active Topics when NOT logged on? I do not use automatic logon and consequently I now do not have access until I logon.

I am certain that I previously had access without logon as I normally would have read the active topics and then logged on only when I wished to post. Any recall?
