however - BBC - every year it's the same poor showing. Why can you not split this into 2 programmes - GAA on first, rugby as a separate show straight after. For recording purposes this would be so much easier.

And if it's a subtle ploy to 'bring the communities together' well, it won't work on me. i fully intend to fast forward through the garlic starter and proceed directly to the main course.

you should watch the football now and then weldy. There are some nice skills on show and it is a flat-out fast paced game with few chances for the players to catch their breath. I prefer rugby but I think that GAA has a lot to recommend it.

Anyone know if the game is going to be on the bbc iplayer? alas I have to work today and don't have the joys of sky+

I would give it a watch now and again - certainly when an ulster side is involved in an all-ireland game at the business end
is a great game and i am partly jesting, but then again it is a school boy final and i wont be watching this one.

have been to a hurling game at croke and really enjoyed it; i would actually prefer hurling over gaa football. skill set required is utterly incredible and at the same time there is more of a gentlemanly respect for the opposition

in much the same way that rugby does, hurling would attract a reputation of being a brutal or rough or hard sport, but from what i've seen of hurling while there is a crazy level of bravery, there is also very little whacking-club-off-opponents-head etc - perhaps its the knowledge of the potential harm that could be caused that regulates it from becoming a brawl with weapons

Did you know that Samuel Beckett played scrum half and Captained the Portora RS team in the 1923 Ulster School's Cup Final.

Last time I mentioned him I got in trouble!! But thanks Cables - Portora still sixth in the table of all-time winners!

(says more about the dominance of the competition by MCB, RBAI and CCB than it does about the state of Rugby at Portora though)

Know nothing about GAA but that McCrory Cup final was gripping stuff towards the end.
