Supposed to be over the worst of it but no word on a return.
heard a rather disturbing story - this was misdiagnosed as a disc injury, so he was rehabbing for months for the wrong injury, including starting to put load through it... Finally gilroy himself asked for a second opinion because of the pain, and they discovered the fractures... not very impressive

Sometimes a fine fracture is not visible in X- rays just after an accident but become visible later when they fail to heal and widen sufficiently to be seen. Similarly some injuries are multiple -- fracture and disc and the disc is more obvious and the fracture obscure and only recognised when the disc has healed -- Doctors practice medicine the word is practice people seem to think they should be perfect and mistake free -- they are not -- thus the first rule "do no harm " -- with drugs that is not always possible and surgery is always a risk.

I can concur on the missed in x ray theory, I had 11 X-ray and 3 MRI scans that a fracture in first XRay showed and the remainder missed, on surgery the bone scar was seen where it had healed, that series of plates is now being used in teaching. By the way the first x ray was oldest machine used and even I could see the clean break.
Scans and X Ray's not fullproof by any means at times.

Leinster reporting vdf, toner and henshaw as all doubts for the QF. Henshaw most likely to make it but hasn't started back in field training yet.

Leinster will cope with a fair few injuries. We need Hendo, Coetzee and Addison to make it respectable.

Re the Gilroy misdiagnosis I’m certainly not a medical expert, although I have suffered several disc injuries, so the thought of doing inappropriate rehab freaks me out

perhaps it’s an easy mistake to make, I still think it’s a bit off that it took several months of rehab and finally a request for second opinion from the player himself, such was the ongoing pain..

I'm told that a stress fracture is notoriously difficult to spot.

The BT are suggesting:
- Coetzee to be fit for the game on Saturday
- Henderson likely to be avaialble for the quarter final
- Gilroy and Addison probably both out
