Cap'n . The closing date is at midnight somewhen in December and that tells you it's a proper, regulated competition ... Otherwise I would have won the shirt by now. The winner may well have already submitted the best entry .. But I promise that the early ones will not be forgotten although those written early in the day in a alcoholic fug.. Well they might just take some working out.

My dear learned friend - please accept my humble (and crawling) apologies - my previous post was just my not so humble attempt at humour.

Scholar wrote:For the absence of doubt I can tell you they don't sing about Cornetti anymore. I went all the way to Venice to do research for this competition ( a gondola is harder to draw than I've made it look!) and at the Campo Santa Maria Formosa I heard the gondolier sing, not the obvious, but Delilah. Delilah?
Anyway, in jokes will be treated with the same respect as sucking up to the judge. This competition will be decided on merit unlike the team to play the ABs.
I doubt they ever did, much anyway. It (or Oh Sole Mio at least) is a Neopolitan song, a Venetian singing it is about as likely as an Ulsterman howling "Molly Malone" on the terrace at the 'Hill.
