NIQs for 2014-15 Season

Post by 10 or 15 only »

It's going to be a quiet week before Scarlets are in town.
We haven't debated this subject yet but it's the time of year when decisions have and will be made.
2 of our NIQs are leaving, John and Johann and perhaps Nick Williams depending on the powers on high.
Where are we most of need for replacements? I would personally replace like for like. I assume Murphy is IQ.
Do we go for an experienced 10 which a lot on here wish for.
Is Ulster Rugby going to be flush with money? We are at least in the black so can DH splash the cash or does he still play the Ballymena card?
When you see Bristol signing 7 new players for next season is it not time for a further announcement nearer to home or is this Sunday thing mentioned elsewhere a signal - surely not on a Sunday.
Thoughts on a post card to DH.

I suspect we are going to see quite a few new players coming in and a few fringe players moving out. Obviously only 2 NIQs

I have seen it reported that McAllister and Macklin are off to the Championship next year.

I think we'll be OK for TH cover ... Dave and Calum can cover LH, maybe a wee project who likes Biltong for TH!!!!!

We've a few holes and some weaknesses, so you can only split 2 NIQs so many ways.

We need a Second rower - some serious dawg. I still feel Hendo is wasted at lock - even v Dragons he got more carries when he went to 6.

Keegan Daniel seems dead in the water now but someone of his ability to copver 6,7 and 8 with no international call up would have been awesome.

I'd take a back rower who wouldnt be away on international duty, but we may need a utility back - if it's a big name he'll have to play regularly .. but who do you leave out if we have a fit backline????

Yer man O'Hagan seems to be our back up 10.

Payne, Bowe, Ruan, Paddy, Olding will defo be scooped by Ireland - AAT, Gillers as well maybe.

I can see a load of fringe players on their way.

Ferris, Henderson, Diack, Williams, Wilson, Henry, Doyle, McComish, Joyce and at a pinch Tuohy: I would suggest we are well covered in the back row assuming all of these are fit and staying.

I hadn't thought about Ruan playing in the Emerald Green.

I wonder if in the next year SA will have dispensed with his services and he gets another nibble at international rugby.

Wondering if this was mentioned then the Toulon rumours appeared last summer.

I always thought he stayed because his personal beliefs were more akin to those found here rather than anywhere else in the NH.
