I always had the impression that TC didn't think he was as good as he really was. Legend.

Would like to read a bit more of Tom's story, for me Reggie & the STA converted a Michael Bent into a top class loosie and deserve enormous credit for that. As for his Ireland career he was a victim of being in his prime in the few years when the club game had moved to 24 but the international game remained 23. I'm sure there are many others who had ropey experiences playing test rugby on their less favoured side of the scrum.

His flirtations with mental health issues may well stem from his quiet disposition but good to read his Ulster teammates were a catalyst for his improvement in the difficult times.

A real student I'm sure he will make a positive difference in his chosen field, just a shame he wasn't able to see out his playing days here.

Tom had to take the cash when it was available. I never blame a bloke who takes a pension booster at the end of their career.
