The focus on the first team coaching set up is again missing the bigger problem.

If we aren't bringing through (via academy/clubs/farming them at Greenmount) at least 2 young players each season fit to stand their ground in the league play-offs, one of those good enough for at least the wider Ireland squad, and over a few years the balance between backs and forwards is even, then we are always going to be chasing Leinster and Munster.

With Connacht, the Scots, some of the Welsh and now the Italians getting their act together, we'll be trailing well behind them too. The Cheetahs are already well ahead of us despite their difficult introduction to the league.

Would have loved Doak to be brought back. The players seemed to rate him highly.

Was this forum not elated this time last year when he was sacked?

Sure it was all his fault (apart from the bit that was Clarke's)

We'll probably be getting Johnny Logan. "What's another year" must be our new theme tune.

My clear memory was that it was both the boys, with Kiss, not far behind in terms of can carrying and very much on his own to sink or swim with his own choices this season ....................... in retrospect, yes it was late in the piece when the two lads were already out the door that, if memory serves, a relative of Mr Clarke told us that Kiss had completely sidelined the 2 guys by Christmas.

I'm left to ponder where blame should actually be apportioned but no matter what various opinions may be, we know we were sold a fu@king pup by D4 when Terry fawned over the greatest coach in coaching history.................. twice over.

I suspect the fact that the guys both got gainful employment PDQ means they are not entire muppets, Kiss, on the other hand, I'd say it'll be a cold day in hell before his next top job comes around at any decent club.

Admitting that you were wrong doesn't come easily to most, Terry only turns things to gold apparently, I, on the other hand, feel that applying the sobriquets of Dumb & Dumber to the 2 fine Ulstermen may well have been misguided.

Ospreys pack is not their problem this season, it's behind them the problems lie. I wish both good luck, FOLK not so much, he's a ganglion, a wee sack of undesirable fluid who needs draining like a Kurdish child in a Saddam Hussein prison.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

While I was not a fan of Doak as head coach (when he was actually head coach), I do think he was capable in assistant roles, and I have previously questioned how much of the bad stuff was his own doing and how much influence Kiss was exercising from a distance during that time.

That said, in the purely hypothetical situation of him returning, I would not be happy with him as chief tracksuit.

I wasn't BR, said at the time we had sacked 2 out of 3 coaches but we had kept 1 wrong one and sacked 1 wrong one , should have been Kiss and Clarke who went last year.

Would rather Doak actually proved himself before taking him back.

Good for him and Clarke venturing outside ulster to test themselves.

There were one or two of us off-message last year, Rooster.
