Was interviewed in his suit at the last home game.....and effectively inferred - I can’t get a game/not getting picked. Personally I don’t blame him. He’s had a wonderful career and deserves to go out by his own choice, and be remembered for the wonderful player but also great ambassador for UR and Ireland that he was. There was maybe another season in him, but he has nothing to prove to anybody and deserves to be treated with respect.
This watershed / squad rebuild is getting bigger by the day.

Not surprised to be honest injury to his feet and ankles over the years have taken away much of the pace he once had .
With out that speed the game loses its appeal to a winger .

I know that I've been incredibly fortunate to have realised not one of my dreams, but two of them; to play for Ulster and to play for Ireland.
These have been some of the most fulfilling days of my life and I feel nothing but gratitude for them.
But there's no way of stopping time - and I see that each day in the lives of my two young children, who are now close to beating me over five metres.
So I wanted to let you know that this will be my last season playing professional rugby.
I want to thank the club for allowing me the time and space to think things through before making what is probably the toughest decision that any professional sportsman will make.
Most of all, I want to thank you - the loyal and dedicated supporters of this special club.
I know that nothing will come close to the experience of taking the field and hearing you raise your voices in support of the team.
You stood up for me; I only hope that I stood up for you.

Proper legend, loved nothing more than scoring trys and smashing opposition players on the wing, and who can forget the digs at BOD any time they played against each other.
The night he took over as Sparky and at half time flattened Davy Miller as he came out of the dressing room was another epic moment as was the resulting try celebrations with the players, good honest player on the pitch and off it also and always enjoyed a bit of a joke and a laugh.

What being an Ulsterman is all about. Starting to feel a bit strange around the place, in a year we've lost Pienaar, Payne, Bowe, Jackson, Olding and now Trimble. Brutal.
