Within this carapace of skepticism there lives an optimist

Best, Nagle and Stockdale all made a difference in the 2nd half. The lineout and I can't believe I'm saying this the maul won the game. Maybe we are starting to get the fundamentals right, or else we were playing a poor team.
Hume is looking like he might have something about him, and McPhillips looked better than Burns to me as he actually challenged the line himself.

Surprised at the paucity of comments on here! Probably reflects the attendance and lack of atmosphere except when the guys were discussing which handbag to buy their loved one for Christmas.

The sinbinning helped to swing it. Never looked like breeching their defence. Atmosphere flatter than a witch's diddy. Perked up slightly after a more enthusiastic than usual bout of handbegs featuring McCloskey and Stockcube.waggonsroll wrote:Surprised at the paucity of comments on here! Never even got the usual second rendering of SUFTUM as the team ran on for the second half.big mervyn wrote:The sinbinning helped to swing it. Never looked like breeching their defence. Second half much better than the first. Actually I think it wasn't a bad result against a well drilled and organised Caaaaaadiff side. We looked pretty short of ideas in the first half but better organised in the second. Played more like a team when the subs came on, especially Best.

Compare our result with the Mexicans' third xv 50+ points away to Dragons.

Absolutely.big mervyn wrote:Atmosphere flatter than a witch's diddy.
Came home absolutely hoarse from gulderin, but as MUM mentioned at one time today after another solo by yours truly, "Tough crowd".
Not interested in getting behind the team and trying to lift them.
There was one bloke, probably mid-50s, who spent the entire first half standing on the terrace with his back to the pitch, chatting with mates. Never noticed him in second half and not sure if he was watching and had his back to me, or just never came back after half-time.
I know people pays their money and makes there choice, but I really do despair of some of the choices made by some.

Re: Alster Paupers v Caadiff (Crimbo on Hold)
It does indeed shiw the huge difference between the sides, although to be honest, i don’t think we should be focussing on Leinster right now as the yardstick to which to measure progress. They are well ahead of other pro 14 teams and we are years away from building anything close to them. The likes of Glasgow and Scarlets are who we should be looking to rival in the nearer term, although given where we are that looks to be some way off.solidarity wrote: Compare our result with the Mexicans' third xv 50+ points away to Dragons.
It is going to be a long haul and we should look for small steps of progress.
