I'd say you're right on the back or possibly a hand or shoulder issue.... Without a doubt Cooney's passing has deteriorated. I'd like to see Wee D working on his box kick. If he can get a half decent one going from both sides of the pitch, he would be good enough. Box kicks are a bread and butter issue for a 9, he needs to sort it. Kicking specialist in please for a week or two to see what happens....

Idiots --- there are so many idiots on this board -- has Lowry ever STARTED 10 for Ulster ?--- how many minutes at 10 has Lowry for Ulster ? In what some might consider the match of the season -- a money game --- ( your share of the pool increase if you play in the quarters ) your thinking of putting the smallest player on the pitch at out half --he doesn't need a hit me sign .

I'd play Ludic at out half before Lowry on this occasion --- and that may seem stupid but it is no more stupid than playing Lowry --- I'd give 20 minutes on the pitch before he need to be subbed.

The Ulster back row need the freedom to play in attack and defence and not spend their time protecting the "target for the day. "

What was the H&B stand last time Ulster travelled to Leicester in 2014/15 is now the Breedon Stand. The current H&B stand is the renamed Caterpillar stand (the big one).

I'm not going to quote rum as I'm sure some have him on ignore.

Note this - and don't forget it - its not about how big the dog is in the fight, its about how big the fight is in the dog.

I confess I don't know a great deal about rugby and you guys seem to know so much so I hope you can assist me!
However I do know about dog fights which I developed a great affection for so in exchange I will impart my considerable knowledge in this field for those interested parties.

I remember Ulster picking a young PJ for an important final and having to sub him at half time .

I don’t doubt Lowry’s bravery nor his skill but unfortunately far too frequently the brave get wounded in action and as I say the guy stands out as “target for to-day “ with a desire to run with the ball .

It’s one thing to tackle a big player -dangerous — but no where near as big man tackling you if your running into the tackle at full speed and your giving about 4 stone or he hits you semi-late when off balance .

The game is too big and important to risk Lowry to control the game at this level on his first start .

Rum - Lowry is on the UR payroll to play fly-half. That's what he does for a living and as you will eventually see, he's really rather good at it. He is older than Jackson was when he played in the Final. Those that know him say he has a great temperament and relishes big challenges. As I've said before, it's one thing for the opposition to target him but it's another for them to actually get close to him. He is a far superior 10 than McPhillips and I suspect will push Burns aside too before long. Bryn Cunningham and the Academy folk rave about him and think that, in time, he will prove better than Jackson and be our best 10 since David Humphreys. Now much of that is all about potential. But he did run Leicester ragged from 15, a position he was unfamiliar with. I think, if Burns is unfit, Lowry should be allowed to show how he can run them ragged from his proper position.

Running a team ragged from 15, when they're bombarding you is a very different ordeal from doing it at 10. Rum is right, he'll have a target on him if picked. Can he play canny enough to keep the hits down to a minimum? I'd like to play him but I don't know if Lowry has enough experience to keep himself out of trouble and uninjured....

Is there an argument for a backline of (assuming Cooney and Burns aren't fit);
Shanahan, Addison, Balacoune, Mccluskey, Cave, Stockdale, Ludik?

Schmidt would wet himself for sure if he thought Addison could do a job at out half. No need for a 3rd out half in his world cup squad.

It would be a bold move, I'd prefer Lowry (if Cooney fit) or McPhillips (if Cooney not fit). Cooney can take pressure of an inexperienced out half.

IMO, absolutely not.

Some on here thought Lowry was the new Jack Kyle and now worried about him starting against the Tiggers.

C’mon people, let’s see what he can do.
