Baggy

like a bull you rush in quoting stastical Bullsh-t missing the whole point EU MPs do nothing but lobby most of the time the Council of Ministers make the political decisions and a thousand little box ticks collect and distribute the money and the accounting systems are such that the A/cs are never signed off.

That being a given any statistics are at best estimates.

The actual point I was making was that few if any voted to exit based on the economic effects of the EU -- but on the effects of the EU on Britain evident in the North /South divide . Plus the the fact that when asked to put its house in order waffled .

Second point that by making the negotiations difficult Tusk etc can only ensure that any second vote to leave would result in a bigger vote to leave.

The EU is far too corporate and only benefits the rich.

I wonder if Darren is having a guilt trip about stirring the pot on this one. Meanwhile the politicans sit here and Donut-tin

Cave is always refrshingly honest, even if you dint always agree with him. He is oretty sanguine about the ireland situation and fair play toh om for acknoweldging how good the competition was, as a reason for not getting selected more.

I do thnk that the bith the oaddy wallace beach episode and the rwc in 2015 when he was in the squad yet not selected when jared got injured were unfair calls. Why have a sepcialist back up centre and then not play him if a centre is injured...

He mentions paddy going to LI. No mention of him joining him there!

Until it was a signed contract I wouldn’t expect him to say anything about LI .

The fact is that at his age he would fast become a break glass option at Ulster on a reduced salary and a one club experience of the game .

LI throwing the cash around. SOB £450k/year at 32 and his injury profile. Don’t know what Paddy will get.

Maybe they are trying to get some Irish players.......

You'd have fancied Darren for the defence coach job if Jihad hadn't got there first. A tad ironic after he took his 13 shirt.

If Darren isn't going to get a regular start with us, I wouldn't begrudge him a few years elsewhere getting more game time and a good wage. Great servant of Ulster but he can't have long left and warming the bench every week, at best, can't be much fun. Or maybe he could become a political pundit at UTV. Then again, if he stood for N Down after Lady Sylvia retires, I'd vote for him.

My take is the IRFU would love have an English Premiership club to absorb some of the Academy talent ex U20s etc where they could rely on the protection and release players for Internationals .

One of the reasons for the exclusion of overseas players in the English and French leagues is the players maybe over played and unavailable for Ireland training camps and get togethers .

The other is to maintain the competitiveness of the Provinces but it is the overall desire to continue to enlarge the player pool and access to players which could see players in approved Clubs being considered when necessary .

But the essential thing is to ensure that the approved clubs play in the highest leagues would be the first priority which could behind the transfer of career ending experienced players to Li .

Plus Kidney and Kiss know exactly what they are getting signing ex internationals .

Idealist don’t necessarily make good politicians . Politics is basically knowing the difference between principals and vested interests and what you can compromise and what is possible and what is impossible.

"I genuinely believe Ulster fans are the greatest fans in the world, and not just because I was brought up as one.
Folk believe in some crazy stuff. :D

Still though great player for Ulster over the years and hope he enjoys his retirement.

Very sorry to hear Darren is retiring and wish him well, all the best for the future with his new family. I got my wish for last weekend in performance and running them close. I did not feel we had the depth to go further if we had won. However I do hope Rory stays on as, for the first time since 2012, I think we do have the depth and squad to win silverware next season. First we need to win the next three games.
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Will be missed for his leadership and commitment to the cause - his sheer Ulsterness.

Sad that Darren's late Ulster career was marred by the Curse of Kiss, though he deserves credit for recognizing that Les was pish at coaching several years before the rest of us got to find that out the hard way.
“It was a bizarre happening, an unprecedented situation, a grotesque situation, an almost unbelievable mischance.”
