Spam emails

Post by DavyG »

....Check your emails.......
Tens of millions of UK internet users could be at risk from "ransom" email spam seemingly sent from financial institutions.

The email has an attachment that looks legitimate but is malware that encrypts computer files.

If the attachment is opened, a displayed countdown timer demands a ransom to decrypt the files.

People who open attachments deserve everything they get. Why would your bank ever send you an attachment?

I have been getting those emails for weeks now but the scanner was stripping them out so looked at one today and it is a self extracting zip file and as Jackie says if you open those type of files from unknown senders you deserve what is coming.
Was a bit of a give away when it mentioned my Barclays account as I don't have one

Have received a number of emails recently purporting to have a photograph attached. Said photo in every case was a self-extracting zip file so emails all went straight into the bin.
