The La Rochelle website states that the gates open at 2:45pm for a 4:15pm KO, not quite the 5 hours in the IT article or something has been lost in translation:

Ouverture des portes

Les portes de l'enceinte ouviront à 14h45. Comme pour les matches de Top 14, nous vous conseillons de nous rejoindre dès l'ouverture des portes afin de réduire votre temps d'attente aux entrées mais aussi faciliter votre stationnement

Doors Opening

The doors of the enclosure will open at 14:45. As for the Top 14 matches, we recommend that you join us at the opening of the doors in order to reduce your waiting time at the entrances but also to facilitate your parking.

Still gonna get out there early. Drinking a nice bottle of red wine outside the ground waiting to get in sounds fine to me.
Weather wise it seems little need to bring suncream but Friday and Sunday look ok and looks like the rain on Saturday which may force us to spend rather longer in General Humberts bar than we were anticipating.
