Baggy, Baggy, Baggy.
See how a group of individuals were having a sensible discussion until you joined in with your foul mouthed rantings.......ironically complaining about being "badmouthed"!
My earlier "badmouthing" was directed to those who were suggesting not supporting THE TEAM against Ospreys.
And my first post on this thread asked for the views of the wise men on this forum. That word was used specifically in the hope that you would recognise that you were not included.
So much for that thought.
Maybe you could start your own thread of Baggy and his Arselickers and loudmouth each other to death?
Play the ball, not the man.

I'll lick Baggy's Brennan because I'm gayer than him.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?

As I understand it, only those willing to pay £99 per annum will be able to see no more than 21 free games per season ( and maybe only one UR game) . The "upside" is supposed to be that the individual clubs intake from the TV deal may go up from £1M per annum to over £2M per club per annum.

So, what will UR do with this extra money?

And is the loss of general TV coverage to thousands of young/old TV spectators across Ulster detrimental to the stated objective of widening the appeal of the game?

I appreciate that this particular decision cannot so easily be laid at BT6's door, being a PRO14 decision, but it doesn't feel right to me.

Or am I just too old fashioned?
You're not a real / true fan if you do not subscribe to Premier Sports and/or have a season ticket.

I don't know what the upshot will be for UR but mark my words (I've always wanted to say that) this is the way tv sport is going. I follow a couple of sport business thingies online and all seem to agree that Amazon and Netflix and maybe Facebook and other social media are the future. What will it mean? Who knows?,

I've been supporting Ulster for a wee while now!

in terms of evidence - I can only give 'expert' opinion, but look at the increase in currency Ulster and rugby have received since the CL matches moved from Setanta.

Anecdotally - the people who used to have conversations with me like, "Are Ulster playing tonight?"; now say, "Did you see the team for tonight? I see Dave XXXXXX is injured again." Or often, "I'm going to the game tonight ..."

Now hopefully not all those gains will be lost, but given the other aspects that have changed negatively in recent times, I feel pessimism is the order of the day.
As if you have people to talk to.

As a ST holder I will admit to recording Ur wherever I could get it, usually Bbc, so that I could analyse , occasionally enjoy, the reruns (unpaid analyst!) and find out why some of the refereeing decisions were made. Also , the PA system is often crap.
So I might therefore be a Premium subscriber and an ST holder, but I can't work out from your post whether that makes me a real supporter or not. Double negatives always did get me!
I do know of many non rugby people who have been enjoying watching " their wee country" but no way will they pay extra over and above the mandatory licence fee.

I’m a season ticket holder and I love watching the game again (mostly if we win). I’m cutting out a lot of unnecessary channels on Sky and adding Premier Sports.
I will miss Winker & Gusher but won’t miss Gavin Andrews (Smug git). Pienaar first game and Andrews asks “So do you think you can justify the huge salary you are on?” He had no interest or respect for Ulster. He’s a Gobshite
I’m feeling Perky this morning. :pig:

Dear Sixtyniner,

Wind your fecking neck in. Baggy knows more about Ulster, rugby in general
and life than your ma knows about raising a stupid spoilt whinging boy.

Yours affectionately,

General consensus on sports coverage globally is to move to the livestreaming model

I think this is right, and what that means for club rugby is that the direction of travel is actually towards a model more akin to the Premier Sports deal, than the previous FTA deal - i.e. towards more specialist providers, away from broadcast 'generalists', whether they be Sky Sports or BBC or whomever.

I read an article about this a couple of weeks ago - mentioned ESPN+ in the States as an example, as I recall it's an online streaming service for less high profile sports where ESPN have swept up the rights for in the States (including rugby). The idea being that this can be targeted at the relatively small numbers of fans for these sports who are willing to pay a lower subscription - rather than the old model where ESPN or whoever would sweep up broadcast rights for niche sports, but then bundle them with 'big' sports, and then force people to buy expensive subscriptions. Interesting that apparently they have launched ESPN+ on the qt because they still have a big dependence on the old-school model, and want to squeeze as much value as possible out of it while it lasts..

I think in general this is a great idea, and good for consumers - to take myself for an example, I used to watch football but haven't watch a game now for a decade I'd say, so literally the only thing I watch these days is rugby, but to get Sky Sports is going to cost me what £40 a month? So to me the Premier deal looks amazing, because it's just the stuff I want for a reasonable amount a month
