Shame to hear about Kevin McLaughlin having to retire, but sounds like it is for the best.

Always liked him as a player and didn't realise he was only 31. He and Shane Jennings were really valuable assets to Leinster even if they didn't maybe get the plaudits some of the other big names did.

Wishing him all the best for the future.

Read this last night

Very sad news, I hope UR plan a tribute to the young man at our next home match

But once again we need to look at farm safety across the islands

Awfully sad indeed. Far too many farming accidents in Ireland. Condolences to his family.

Leinster just mauled Scaaaaaalets from 10m line to within 7-8 m of try line and going very strong. Scaaaalets #4 cynically takes the maul down and deservedly gets a yellow. From the resultant penalty, Leinster go through a couple more phases including a couple more penalties for cynical defense (????!!!!) by Scaaaaalets, but ultimately end up with just 3 points from a kick in front of the posts.

Any reason not to award a penalty try as well as the yellow card for the initial offence? Looked like no way they were stopping that maul legally after building a head of steam over 30+ metres.

(Leighton Hodges the ref, if that is relevant)

Discuss.

EDIT: - those three points were only ones conceded during sin-binning despite several penalties for foul play by Scaaaalets.

Aforementioned Scaaalets #4 just cleared out Jamie Heaslip with his shoulder but Hodges bottled it again. Awards a penalty but no (second) yellow card.

Welsh pundits of course totally disagree - not even a penalty according to them. Text book clear-out of a ruck. Obviously having your arms attached to your body must mean you were clearly using them!

I don't understand how the referee determines Ball was clearing out the ruck? Heaslip yes was part of the ruck, but no longer contesting and nowhere near the ball. Its a cheap shot and a yellow all day.

If Ball comes in and clears Heaslip out because he is within the vicinity of the rugby ball fair enough but he was nowhere near it. To me its very clear.

Dominic Ryan is an awful player.

Yeah could put good money on it that if he didn't ALREADY have a yellow card against him in this match it would have been given then.

Interesting listening to the commentators commenting on The Westies and saying that they are scoring lots of tries and were top try-scorers at the start of this weekend. Obviously to the Welsh, being close to highest is good enough. I look forward to them being close to winning the 6N and their clubs being close to the play-offs come the end of the season. No doubt they'll be happy with that then!
