Re the kicking stats, the table at the link has loads of extra detail. Some interesting analysis of the figures shows the Cheetahs kicker has got his last 22 kicks!

Cooney is 16/18 (89%) on penalties and 19/30 (63%) on conversions.

Figures are a nonsense. Hildago-Clyne has a 90% kicking record but has only had 10 attempts. Cooney is doing well considering he only saw himself as a hobby kicker at the start of the season.

Also since we are not scoring enough trys then you move into the penalty kick territory which is generally further out and riskier kicks.

I'd imagine most are happy with Cooney's kicking. I've no idea if the stats back this up, bit he seems to have improved as the season has gone on and is now solid.

Lies, damn lies and statistics! The headline numbers tell you little. The Scottish kicker back in the day Paterson always had a high % rate, but never took the kicks from distance etc.

Cooney is 16/18 (89%) on penalties and 19/30 (63%) on conversions. These figures show John is doing well on pens, Ulster score a lot of tries out wide - thus the lower rate for the 2 pointers.

We score a lot out wide as well. I think Cooney will get better. There was a time when a 10 who used to play for us had a 60% rating but did improve.
