That's a helluva lot of money...but you would imagine losing him could potentially cost a lot more. If he joined his former partner in crime (figure of speech) in France, for example, it would be an unmitigated catastrophe. He is irreplaceable as far as Ireland are concerned.

Interesting article, looks a bit deeper than most articles about Munster in the media this year - which tend to be 3 parts hyperbole about Carberry, 1 part hyperbole about Beirne and 1 part everything else. The next 4 games will tell a tale - and I don't see them getting anything out of their 2 away games...

Murray confirmed to 2022. Excellent stuff.

Probably Duncan Williams best ever game for Munster, right back into the game. Garces has declared its open season at the breakdown and let's not bother with offside today. But a good tussle, 10-10 after 65 minutes.

Carberry nearly gave it away, never kick the ball straight down the pitch with such a strong wind at yur back. He had a great kick earlier but all in all not much impact on the game.

Not bad from Munster. I'd have been delighted with a draw beforehand so still happy. Some are calling out we had chances to win but I'd also say we had chances to lose so feck it.

Carbery would have felt pretty sick if that poor kick cost us the game.

Agree with Baggy. When I saw that Duncan was starting I was very concerned but fecking 'ell he played some game. If he could play anywhere near that level consistently I'd be more than happy.

Was the kind of game that Munster probably should have won given the territory and possession they had, but equally they could easily have lost it. Wind made a lottery of the game, especially trying to take the ball wide. You know it's windy when even passing the ball accurately more than a few metres becomes almost impossible. Tadhg Beirne is a huge signing for Munster and he's starting to make a difference. Going to be a huge battle between himself, Hendo, Ryan and Toner for the second row positions with Ireland over the next 12 months.

Slight concern that for the second week running that Munster couldn't convert large amounts of possession into victory.

More recently, Shan, I've thought you have been a little hard on Williams, he was an utter spanner but I do think he's become a touch better. I'd certainly swap him for Shanners, who surprisingly also played better than expected on Saturday.

I also think the criticism of Carbery is a touch unfair, in fairness he played well and he barely touched that kick. No other kick that day happened to bound and bounce on, albeit not many played a long boot down the centre. The decision with 90 seconds to stick the ball deep was perfectly sound given the gale Exeter had to attack into. No criticism of him from me this week.
