Johnny will retire by the end of the season. He's a broken man.

Every result as expected in the first two days. The usual combination of great games and very predictable straightforward wins. Have to feel sorry for the Argies, Scots going nowhere, Saffers a one trick pony, English looking good as are the Kiwis. Ireland safe into the QFs. Could have written all of that a week ago.

Today was reminiscent of 2018. Ireland were mean and ruthless to the Scots. All 23 contributed.
Question: does Rory Best get paid extra to play 80 minutes? Or does he just get next Saturday off?

I didn't think England looked good. They made a lot of dumbass errors which they got away with because they were up against nothing. However they will get better.

A lot of people thought South Africa would beat NZ. In the end they beat themselves. NZ were good as usual at capitalising on oppositon f-ck ups and being offside without penalty.

Just as well they did leave him out there as it turned out.

You'd have to think he'll sit out the next game.

Surely that was a yellow card against Wales?
From the rolling glens of Antrim through the hills of Donegal we will stand and shout for Ulster as we win both scrum and maul from the lovely lakes of Fermanagh tae the shores of ould Lough Gall we will scream and shout for Ulster as we beat them one and all!

Luke Pearce grossly inconsistent. Wales pull maul down- no problem. Georgia do it, yellow card. Just one of several examples. And I agree that Wales should have been down to 14 earlier. Georgia will rightly feel aggrieved. Once more the refereeing is suspect. It will ruin this competition.

After the first round of matches, looks like Ireland have most reason to be satisfied, Wales and England, ok but more to do, Scotland could be packing their bags if Japan are still in with a shout of qualifying when they meet.

Scotland were possibly worse than Ireland were good... easy group. Btw have Ireland moved away from playing under the IRFu flag or did I just imagine that we used to play under it?

Nice to see Rory getting some praise for his style of captaincy — Mr Muller taught him well — you shouldn’t have to motivate—just remind your teamwhat is required — focus avoid giving away penalties

Hope we do not get carried away and underestimate Japan. Full bore, both barrels right from the off please. This is a very good, well-trained Japanese team.

World Rugby criticizing the poor refereeing in the France and Australia games, I see.

Of course some scotch egg on line complaining about the ref in the Ireland game.

Can’t be 100%sure of accuracy but read on the Leicester Tigers fans forum that Luke Pierce was born in Wales and had played under age rugby for the Welsh Exiles which might throw a light on his performance.

Georgia v wales game to a degree flattered the Welsh one try might have had a forward pass ( no review) and another an off side again no review and a rather harsh red card .

In fairness to the ref when the welsh went for the line it was at pace in a game of three speeds - laborious slow of the Georgian pack - a slightly faster Welsh pack and the much faster attack of the Welsh backs which obscured any infringement
