Back to sleep Russ. Snipe has it covered above.
I thought you were intimating at the biased taught to Irish by their elders

Remember no child is born racist, sexist, xenophobic, biased etc.
Jim Davidson was born racist

I've had to say this to irish people a few times in the run up to English games
"We always raise our standard because we hate the English"

What have the English done to you that the French, Welsh, Scottish or Italians haven't?

People hate what they are told about the English in the past. Not all the good things England does for Ireland
1. Trade
2. Finance
3. Bail outs
4. Sport
5. Travel
6. Employment

In fact without England, I often wonder what ireland would be.

But then I'm reminded of Potatoes, or supposed land seizure, of oppression

To that I say, build a bridge, get over it. Move on

England is but another game against a side who is better than us.
Go, enjoy the game, mix with thy neighbour

But to say a professional irish rugby player cannot get up for this game like any other is just plain wrong

Very few here hate the English Russ, certainly not at an individual level. Some of us are part English.

As has been often stated before, it's the home counties-centric English media and Establishment and corresponding deeply patronizing superiority complex that boils most people's.

Many of their players are also extremely dislikeable.

Let's not forget Bernard Manning or Roy Chubby Basturd.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Once a Knight wrote:Can I simply add to Mervyn's fine response, that they don't come much more "West Brit" than me, and I like beating the English largely because of the absolute nonsense written and spouted by their Home Counties media. I simply adore watching the same media scratching through the ashes of failure for some "explanation" as to what went wrong. The inexplicable is never explained by them saying that they'd hyped England up beyond sense or reason.

That is from someone who this time last week was taking tea in Covent Garden whilst watching the street entertainers and whist-fully bemoaning having to return to the "oul sod".

Could we not. Even if you are wumming this ignorant horseshít does not belong on this thread or indeed on this site.

As for the rest - You are directing to the wrong person as my posting history attests to. If you want a general discussion on relations, historical and contemporary, between England and Ireland I'll be happy to play along but do it in the Back Room please so other folk won't have to wade through it.

Its all got a bit heavy there.
Having said that just one glance at any of the following, James Haskell, Dillon Hartley, Mike Brown or the Ash Splash, is enough to make me reach for the Braveheart DVD.
