Tony Ward is gurning about lack of accuracy and he's right, but this team has a lot of potential. They have showed some good rugby at times. I'll take good players and a bad system over the alternative an day.

If only Ulster could produce backrow forwards as they can hookers, McBurney having another good game

I've been flicking back and forth between U20s and Weegies/Leinster match, but gotta say that McBurney has been stand out MotM from the bits that I have seen.

Strong in all departments - scrummaged well (apparently), thrown well, won several turnovers in the loose and carried very well too. An all-round performance. :salut:

He had a super game and looks like he has a bit of dog too. Now all he has to do is make the step up to senior, but therein lies the stumbling block.

He needs subtitles too.

Currently part of our sub-Academy - assume that means he'll be part of the full Academy next season?
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

You would think he is well worth some investment. Needs to up the power level if he's to make it for Ulster, but he's starting from a good place.

I have watched him for a few years, was originally at Randalstown under age before moving to Ballymena, was always very mobile and really liked the physical side of things. Hopefully will kick in as said previously.

Was impressed with McBurney again. An extra back row like Rory but more effective at gaining ground with ball in hand, albeit at U20 level.
McPhillips seems to try to hard to do the sensational. He's much more effective just getting the basics right.
Stockdale. Ran in a try from 10m unopposed then did some stupid celebration. Maybe I'm a grumpy old man but I'd give him a bit more leeway if he didn't play like he couldn't catch or pass the other 80 mins.

Comedy moment was when Hastings hoofed it into touch when the stadium clock said 40 but the actual match clock was only at 35.

How did our new 10 do?

He looked all right, but he wasn't playing 10, so it's hard to read too much into it.

Ireland U20 RWC squad. Ulster have one forward (McBurney) and two backs (Stockdale, McPhilips) in. One forward is a pretty poor return.

McBurney and Stocdale both did well in Irelands win over Wales 26-25 especially consicering they were 17-0 down at one point
