Schmidt...

... has applied for the Crusaders job and will leave Ireland after this current tour (presumably only if he's successful in his application).

Interesting times ahead.

It's no secret that Joe wants to coach the All Blacks and has been cagey about his intentions after his Ireland contract finishes. He's a shrewd operator and if this is correct, it could be the next stage in him positioning himself for that job having developed his CV.

Yes.

Also, two defeats to the All Blacks in November would probably not do his chances much good. Now's the time to go.

Is this in the public domain, crouch? Or have you a sauce?
It's the hope that kills you.

Some of them could.

Give the provinces 3 years of being top-down coached by Lam instead of Schmidt, and we might be onto something.

Can see no sign of this anywhere, you got a source Crouchie?

Excellent news just the same, very good coach, shyte selector.

(I'm hungover and in my head I can hear a song, to the qune of "No more heroes", gotta love the Stranglers)

Whatever happened to Bob Kearney?
He got an ice pick
That made his ears burn

Whatever happened to Dave Kearney?
The great Quiffero,
And Devin Toner?

Whatever happened to the Kearneys?
Whatever happened to the Kearneys?

Whatever happened to all the Kearneys?
All the Fitzgeralds?
They watched their Rome burn

Whatever happened to the Kearneys?
Whatever happened to the Kearneys?
No more Kearneys any more
No more Kearneys any more
No more Kearneys any more
No more Kearneys any more

NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Not public, just have sources.

It's elsewhere on the rugby discussion interwebs too by the way, I am not delivering some UAFC international exclusive.

Won't matter, I'm convinced the problem is the IRFU and internal pressure on coaches rather than the coach themselves. Lam will have us playing Schmidtball in no time.
