On Current form I doubt either Carberry or Scannell
Should make the trip
— Carberry might as a utility back but would expect Carty to go as out- half cover .

Scannell has never inspired me to think of him as an International

Carbery will go, joe has invested too much in him. Farrell might sneak in ahead of scannell depending on warm up games. Wouldn't rule out addison if he makes a return.

Would have Cooney in there, cover as the third 10 play v Russia etc. May go 18-13 split with extra prop/backrow option.

That might work out in Cooney's favour. Joe loves the versatility.

Addison will travel if fit. He's too versatile for Joe to resist.

Some howls if he makes it over Conway. We need another 13 after golden balls and addison is the next best in the country.

My shout on current form would be McCloskey , but his problem may be he appears to lack immediate acceleration which is preferred by Joe but to my mind Scannell does not appear to meet that requirement either .

McCloskey at least consistently breaches the gain line when asked an seldom gets turned over .

Would go 18-13 and put Ruddock in. Cooney over Marmion. No Scannell, Addison over Conway if fit.

This is what I think Joe will select. I agree with Cooney but Joe doesn't seem to favour him with others fit. Although the limits of the 31 man squad may change that.

The squad limit thing means you can’t bring 3 9s and 3 10s, in 2015 Madigan was the 3rd 9!

Janny will play against scotland and japan, then wrapped in cotton wool till the qf. Wee joey and AN other will spilt the other games. Conney can sit on the bench for both to allow janny the rest otherwise he needs to get togged out with the possibility of having to come on after 5 mins.

Sexton being a « « cracked cup » guarantees 3 out halfs

Cooney is not an International standard and Joe is not a gambler .

I see Cooney as a player who holds a ticket for the second flight should anything happen to any of scrum halfs .

While a lot of effort has gone into Carberry — I sense the more he plays out half at Professional level the less Joe trusts him .
Hé can’t deliver a game plan without becoming predictable.
