I was up in Donegal at the w/e and judging by the flegs and bunting on display, thought they were in the final, Seems like they're just involved in some new league stage  It was much easier when you got bate and had to go home. Bit like Engerland who had to lose 3 times before they fecked off.

Has anybody ever come through one of the back doors and won the thing?
Not in Bogball Mervyn. It has always been one of the provincial winners which win the final. Indeed as far as I can remember no non-provincial winner has contested a final. Generally speaking the game is not competitive. Mostly you have 1 team in each province way ahead of the rest.
I'm guessing you don't pay much attention to the football championship as a number of teams came through the qualifiers to win the All-Ireland between 2001 and 2010, including five in six seasons. In 2010 all four provincial winners were beaten in the quarter-finals and it was felt at the time that there was an advantage to playing in the qualifiers.

Provincial winners have dominated since then but Mayo have reached the last two finals despite losing in the Connacht championship to Galway.

All-Ireland winners who came through the qualifiers:

2001 Galway (lost in Connacht semi-final against Roscommon)
2005 Tyrone (lost Ulster final against Armagh)
2006 Kerry (lost Munster final against Cork)
2008 Tyrone (lost Ulster quarter-final against Down)
2009 Kerry (lost Munster semi-final against Cork)
2010 Cork (lost Munster semi-final against Kerry)

Correct. Bogball is basically a load of w@nk so I tend to block out everything from more than about 5 years ago.

So GAA is finally catching up with the world and adopting formats from foreign sports, are they? :duck:
Rugby has TMO, soccer has VAR, Tennis has Hawkeye, Cricket has Snickometer and HotSpot. GAA seems to have gone for a 1960s home cine format. Decisions should be fairly accurate once the film is mailed back from Kodak.

Un-f8cking-believable game today in the hurling semi final between Clare and Galway in Croke Park. Full sure we were done and dusted after about 15 mins when we were already 9 points behind. Simply incredible stuff from the banner boys to get back into it, force extra time and ultimately force a replay. Gwan Clare ya fecking beauties.

Sunday sees the semi between Limerick and the langers. Would f8cking love it if Limerick could bate 'em......despite my Caaaark connections.
