On the understanding that Wiggins would reciprocate in 2013, but Wiggo wasn't up for that. He was the big man on campus and wasn't going to be anybody's domestique.Russ wrote:Yes. Froome did his job

He has been in the UK since he was a child. His Britishness is not in question, his greatness is not in question, but for me, he is not Britain's greatest ever sportsman. He's not even Britain's current greatest sportsman. That's McIlroy and I suspect he will be the greatest.
Botham, Faldo, Hoy, Wiggins and Redgrave all have to be in the mix. Froome is getting there and if he wins the Vuelta a Espana, he'll be there too. Winning two of the big three in one season is massive, especially the last two.
Mixing drug-fuelled athletes with proper sportsmen is just incorrect. Cycists and athletes are not to be trusted no matter how pure they appear. Faldo on the other hand can be excluded from such accusations, he was such a short hitter I often wondered if his driver had a cashmere insert Shambooooooommmmmmmmmm.
Botham of course was a known drug user, so what, he was feckin' magic.
McIlroy has great potential but has a long way to go yet. My vote for the greatest ever British sportsman is the much maligned Andrew Trimble.
Edwards is the greatest rugby player of all time, that is true but he is not the GLU. Trumps everything that.

No, he is a quickish runner with little else to commend him ....... these foreigners, coming over here and stealing our accolades. Shoot the lot of them, it's the only language they understand. They should put up a bleedin' border so they should.

Anyone who complies with James Corden and his female doppleganger and complete twunt Claire Balding deserves no credit whatsoever.
I am of course referring to the " Mobot", which was their creation.
I have just mentioned that womans name and it has riled me.
I am just dreading the day she does the rugby, its inevitable as the beeb have her doing everything else to demonstrate her general sporting ignorance..
Single handedly destroyed radio coverage of the Ryder Cup by burbling on about her dead uncle whilst cheers and action were going on all about her.
Like a fish she is dead behind the eyes with a character to match.
She is to sport what Vlad the Impaler was to scarves.
She is a sporting Voldamor.
In the name of all that is holy please remove this abomination from our eyes!
What was the topic again?

This was Wiggins promise to Froome not team orders. Not just Froome that Wiggins couldn't work with either.Snipe Watson wrote:On the understanding that Wiggins would reciprocate in 2013, but Wiggo wasn't up for that. Not taking anything from Wiggins he got the first British tour win, but when a wee place like Ireland has produced guys like Kelly and Roche you wonder why it took Britain so long to deliver

Very simple
The media was obsessed with chav ball
Once they realised there was millions and millions of people who love other sports and hate fitba they branched out
Thus the money was invested and the media got interested in other sports
Then the tour became cleaner

The fact that Froome left Wiggy for dead when he was supposed to be protecting him in the closing part of a stage a few years back probably didn't sit well either.ColinM wrote:This was Wiggins promise to Froome not team orders.
