You're odd at most things, so I suppose we shouldn't be surprised that you do "calm" that way too.

That said, Davy Jones was a massive talent and a great influence on music for a long time. I'm mildly saddened by the news but as with most celebrity deaths, my own life will continue largely unaffected. I would send my condolences to his friends and family, but I doubt that would have any affect whatsoever.
Is that thon wee English cherub from The Monkees or the boy with the locker?
Nah - it's the other wee English cherub otherwise known as Ziggy Stardust ....... and a few other names (but I suspect you knew that).
.
Although, for the avoidance of any doubt, the English cherub is also tattie. Statistics suggest that being a pop star called David Jones is a life limiting condition.
Even more bizarre, for I said it as a wee joke, I believe the sainted one did actually perform under Davy Jones's Locker at an early point in his reincarnations.

Glenn Frey, Lemmy and Bowie. I foresee artistic differences.
Can I come out from behind the sofa yet?

With Frey involved yes. A most disagreeable individual, but a massive part of my 2nd favourite band.

Sure, they're just a cover band.

... and Dale Griffin of Mott the Hoople on drums.

They're all near enough the same age.

Loads of people dying now that never died before .................except on stage, of course, as in Mott the Hoople's case when they went on too long.

I hope Jack Black doesn't die for decades, now he makes interesting music, unlike the Landahn Phil, the backing singers of the orchestral world.

You're such a feckin' West Brit Wanst, you really are too too much influenced by English grandeur, pomp and circumstance .............FFS man you're a bogtrotting Paddy, like it or not & you are not getting ennobled any time soon, I have it from a friend in higher places than boys like us, when I tried to put in a good word. He laughed, "Lord Fackin' Tayto" he quipped, " I think not", with a sneer. One hopes you aren't crushed.

Perhaps it may have been better had I not tried to intercede on your behalf. I suppose it was a bizarre juxtaposition of the most extreme opposites if ever there was one, the local communist trying to propose a comrade (small "c") for ennoblement.   Funny old world.

Either that or Queen.
This is my personal favourite.

One thought you were a 100% Brit a chara. What a disappointment to discover you are overjoyed to be known as only one of those West versions. Her Maj will be most upset when I call her tomorrow with the news. She may even decide to place my English-loving ass on a higher step than your good self. For shame old bean. :D

I was merely commenting that it's the nicest things Baggy has ever said about me.

West Brit, Brit, they're all the same to Baggy. One hopes ultimately that one can move him to fully recognise GB though one suspects it's akin to getting China to accept Taiwan.

One will be over shortly to visit the Capital and will be sure to mention you to he Majesty. She often times reminisces about how warm your welcome was and regularly asks how you are. You made quite an impression. :thumleft:

Good stuff and nice one managing to bring China into the discussion. China Girl was of course a song which Bowie had success with. Not his best song needless to say but it hit Number 2 in both the UK and Irish charts back in 1983.

Talking about Taiwan - The new President elected does, I believe, favour independence for Taiwan and her party has achieved a position for the first time to govern as a single party. Maybe she can help to finally figure out a way to do this and stop both the PRC and Taiwan claiming the name "China" and stop Taiwan from claiming the territory of the PRC as the ROC. It has gone on long enough and they should just break free from each other. If not they'll still be arguing and maybe marching about it in a couple of hundred years time. >EW

My dear friend John, a hugely successful banker in his day - yes, I know >sniper - was a ginger catholic from Downpatrick. Oddly he was a fan of England football who could find no fecks to give for Marty O'Neill or Micky O'Neill. :duh:
