Is synchronised swimming singles not a bit of a sporting oxymoron.
It's a highly specialised discipline.

Carl Lewis was the same. Oh now.....
He was juiced up too.

I assume you are talking about Linford Christie the cheat.
Correct and the British authority did everything they could to ensure he could keep competing even after a positive test. On the second one the IAAF told them to get stuffed and banned him. Makes me smile when I hear the same crowd who were salivating over the likes of Dwain Chambers, even after his ban, going on about those nasty eastern euros and others with all their cheating.
there were only 2 athletes in the 1988 100m final who never tested positive in their career: Robson da Siva of Brazil who placed 5th and Calvin Smith of the US who placed 3rd (after Jonson's disqualification)

I've always beleived that Ben Johnson was a scapegoat who didn't have the intellect to organise his steroid use as well as the others. Nor did he have his national Olympic committee providing cover.

Very specialised Snipe.
To be fair I was well beaten by the legend that was Conor O'Connor from Sneem.
Whilst I matched his style when it came to synchronisation he was in a class of his own.

They say only the stupid ones get caught who get careless.
Nowadays it's mainly whistleblowers.which catch them out but they don't tend to come forward as they know they too will be ruined.
That's why athletes will never condemn another as they all know their all at it and it will only take one convicted doper to say 'hang on a minute!?'
Wonder when the next Troy Lands will step forward?

Johnson's IQ would probably qualify him for the Paralympics under the current "learning disability" category.

I don't think Gatlin is the sharpest tool either. (

At the time he was said to have a mental age of about 12 or something similar.

Brownlee Sr seems to have the mental scud on Brownlee Jr.

The 2 years age gap might pay off for jr in Tokyo.

It may, but they are two seriously tough competitors. There are no airs and graces with them either. #Yorkshire

Top diving.
I think that Al Brownlee is probably our greatest athlete in terms of dominance since Daley.
Athletes equivalent of the Williams sisters in terms of sibling brilliance.
Tremendous stuff.

Don't think we'll see the likes of the pair of them again.
Mo Farah has been unbeaten in Major championships at 5000m since 2009 and at 10000m since 2011 but then, is he British :stir:
