Volunteer at an animal sanctuary; it will fill you with joy , despair, but most of all love, unconditional love of the animals.

As is Venice. However it can be a bit smelly when it's warm. 'Oh er missus!'

I'd have thought population of any Portuguese city would be confused by Lisburn:
1) The one-way system
2) The city status
3) Its ability to produce world class rugby coaches
...
It mystifies even the locals.

I used to be a fan of S-W USA also, but that was pre-Trump. I cannot in all conscience recommend Seppoland as we now know that a huge portion of the nation are scumbagging pussygrabbers.

However before the recent calumny, I would have recommended Utah with ventures into Arizona & Colorado, fabulous scenery, hiking rafting and that sort of craic. California has plenty to recommend it also and has the added attraction of voting decisively against Trump.
NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Hire RV (motor-home) and drive from Calgary to Vancouver staying in the various National Parks on the way. Take ferry to Vancouver Island , stay in Victoria and go Whale watching.
Montreal . Quebec City and the Maritime Provinces of Canada are also great destinations but not sure of the weather in September.

Bon Voyage
