Martin McGuinness has been posthumously awarded by the City of San Francisco for his “courageous service in the military”.

The certificate of honour was issued by San Francisco on Friday and is the American equivalent of the freedom of the city.

The certificate is signed by the Democratic mayor of San Francisco London Breed.
Has San Fran lost the run of itself. I mean I think Marty tried to do something positive during and after the Good Friday agreement and perhaps that is worth calling out but to say he served in the military, never mind courageously, is surely beyond the pale.

I thought you meant the Ernest Borgnine movie.

Shan Shan, calm down mate!

This is simply an unfortunate typo. Marty's award is actually for milinary service, more specifically, his tireless work to popularize the black beret and the balaclava in the 1970s. :terror:

If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear a black beret on your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some stupid people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Springtime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
People eulogising those with black berets on their hair ...

It is a scientific fact that people in San Francisco are thick as fûck.
