Very much so. Do I have to pay McWhirter for using that?

Was it just me or did anyone else think The Revenant was three hours of their life they can never get back? Maybe I was just expecting too much.
I love westerns, but the last really great western was Unforgiven in 1992

Agree 100%. For all the hype and awards etc... I was bored. Really bored.

80% of it was Leo DiCaprio walking or sleeping. I thought it was ok, but not worthy of the rave reviews it has received.

In my own opinion any films that get rave reviews, and a heap of awards are usually crap

Watched Uncle Buck yesterday with the kids for the first time in about 25 years. Forgot how funny John Candy was in it.

The Revenant was all a bit too unrelentingly grim to be enjoyable. DiCaprio will probably get the Oscar on the basis of "look what he had to do to film it..." rather than on acting.

I enjoyed "The Big Short" It is quite different from the Michael Lewis book which is very factual and instead the film is a bit of a farce to emphasise the stupidity and idiocy of the people involved with the whole financial system.

Also "Spotlight", a good story well told. Solid no fuss film making.

And for some fluff "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies". It is rubbish, but I found it entertaining anyway but I like Zombie films.

Agreed about The Revenant. The cinematography was wonderful, the acting was excellent and I suspect the portrayal of life on the frontier in the 18th century was fairly accurate. However, the story was a simple one of revenge and could have been told in about half of the time. If DiCaprio gets the Oscar, it will be more for his whole body of work than just for this one movie, I think.
I thought Spotlight was really good - a gripping story, well told, relevant, and superbly acted.

Very much enjoyed Spotlight. Big fan of Mark Ruffalo and Leiv Schreiber.

I enjoyed that Snipe. I've yet to see the Revenant though I'm looking forward to it.

Film of the year was Star Wars though.

Don't get too excited about the revenant, it's long and gloomy. Probably a very well made movie, but I can't be bothered with all that arty farty crap. I wasn't gripped by it.
I have not seen Star wars yet.
