Re: Ulster verses Glasgow updates
I want to know what happened to our fantastic defense of wednesday night?
Some people say I used to be called Colzo. Don't listen to them people, I talk much less sense than Colzo.
Re: Ulster verses Glasgow updates
I know this is very off topic, but I didn't think it was worth a new post...The Leinster game is on live on the S4C website, only downside is the Welsh is v.annoying

Listen lads, it could be worse, just heard that the road racer Martin Finnegan died today at the Tandragee 100

True Rooster. I Just read about it on the BBC site. Our thoughts should be with Martin Finegan's family at this time and not on our team's minor misfortunes. Dreadful News.

Re: Ulster verses Glasgow updates
Ulster should have beaten them
but didn't deserve to
We played too much stupid rugby it is time the forwards realised they are not backs
It is time for some players to recognise the game is about space and pace
Far too many times the forwards came into the backline take the ball and run into contact failing to release the ball to the backline outside them and then get penalised for failing to release the ball because there are no players come into support them because the backs are lying out across the field waiting for the ball and therefore not there to secure possession
If forwards line out in the backline they should be their to support and secure the ball if the backs go into contact not barging their way up field hoping to carry two tacklers 15 yards to the try line
on two occassions Ulster got into the Glasgow 22 and on both the forwards were penalised for failing to release
similiarly when inside the 22 Ulster tried to attack the blind side when the backline was lined out across the openside
attacking the blindside is fine provided the intention is to create space but if you create that space for heavens sake use it
get the ball to wing not to some tiring prop or second row two yards from the breakdown
My other observation would be that Parks exposed Paddies weakness in the second half he kicked Glasgow from their 22 to Ulsters on virtually every occassion
For the Issac knockers I would point out that he only kicked the ball when inside the Ulster half and passed when inside the the Glasgow 10 metre line
his distribution might have been better ie feeding the backs on the open side instead of to the forwards going blind but I think the blame in that respect is one which should be shared with the forwards and not just Boss
Glasgow won because Parks saw the spaces and went for them either with the boot or pass
Ulster just closed their eyes to the spaces and closed their minds to the options
but didn't deserve to

2B or not 2B that is the question ?
Re: Ulster verses Glasgow updates
As one punter shouted at Boss as he again took an age to get the ball in hand from a ruck - " Oi Boss are ye having yer tea first??!! "Ithryn wrote:game over, 24-35, seemed we played alot better thank goodness were already in the heineken cup.
court played another blinder, boss and wallace both played well. penalty count is just too high
lineout alot better, dominated the forwards battle, but our backs are lacking abit i feel
Paddy Wallace had a terrible game. God help us if he is 1st choice 10 next year.

Dewey was pretty good, not as prominent as in the Munster match, but put in a good performance in my opinion.

Re: Ulster verses Glasgow updates
Good to see that Dewey is getting back to a bit of form - pity its near the end of the season, but at least it shows how he can perform. Will be good to see a fully fit Dewey next season.
Re: Ulster verses Glasgow updates
I was actually quite impressed by the speed with which Isaac passed the ball from the ruck, especially in the first half. There was a lot less of his usual frantic handwaving. Those box-kicks make me wince though.
I got the feeling they were reading our game effectively and nullifying a lot of our efforts. And I'd agree with some of the comments made above about forwards coming into the backline. Neil Best has a terrible habit of charging forward, and going to ground in an isolated position.
Rory, Simon D, Tom Court and (inevitably) Tommy had good games.
The result was particularly frustrating given the physical advantage our forwards had over theirs.

For the razor blade was German-made
But the sheet was Belfast Linen.

Re: Ulster verses Glasgow updates
i dont want to sound like a boss apologist but he did score for us again. and ive always felt he was forced into some of the decisions he makes by playing of a weak pack.
that being said it does seem we were defeated as Parks showed that he is a level above Wallace at controlling a game. Wallace's only future is as a squad center who can cover outhalf for us if injuries start to factor

Why? Why not?
Re: Ulster verses Glasgow updates
Halfbacks can give go forwards ball through good tactical kicking and passing, wallace and boss done neither, Boss done poor kicks and wallace never found the gaps that humphreys can find
Re: Ulster verses Glasgow updates
on the bbc website under the ulster glasgow match report there is an interview with matt williams and he said that he thinks the reason for the loss was fatigue due to the fact that they played 2 games in four days
At the end when asked about the signings he seemed quite annoed as it sounds like he has been asked this question a lot by other people. He said the problem was at the other end as they have problems releasing them from their contract and sorting dates in which they can come over
The interview if any one is interested is below:
