Booing your own team- you are a disgrace

Post by UlsterInDublin »

I dont care whether people were booing the ref, booing the team, or booing the quality of the beer in the beer tent, anybody at that match who was booing should stay at home as we dont want their kind of so-called supporter tarnishing the good name of ulster rugby fans

we surely have some common sense to know that booing your team will cause more probems-???
clearly not- take your booing and keep it for somewhere else, you're an embarassment to ulster rugby

I didn't boo myself as feel the team is young and will take time to gel, however NOBODY has any right to tell other people what they can or can not do. People have paid their money and can boo if they want, this however wont help the team. If it was booing the ref i can see that as fully deserved on that performance!!

Wonder how this fits in with U/R's plans for expansion, ie redevelopment attracting the best players better facilities and so on.

To be honest I don't think anyone was booing the team

but the performance of the ref

Nobody at the game could have have doubted the effort of the players

disappointed that their efforts were not rewarded yes but I woulkd not think of any reason why the team could be booed

Ok there are some on this site don't rate Dewey I think they are mistaken and have given little consideration to the consequences of the alternatives

That Dewey has somethings to sort out in his game can not be disputed I think his problem is that he runs into contact facing the oppossition is the major flaw thus any attempt to dispossess him will always look as if the ball has been played forward by him instead of played back by the tackler I think he has to learn to roll into contact so that the ball comes back instead of going forward

Others on this site don't rate Boss again I think they have failed to assess the consequences of change

Marshall is an eagar beaver but his eagarness can lead to choosing a higher risk option

Willis at present has a weaker and more erratic pass than Boss which can put pressure on our out halfs and Ulster do not possess outhalfs with either the physique or experience handle that sort of pressure
2B or not 2B that is the question ?

Got to agree. Whilst it was a frustrating night to be a supporter, the effort of the players could not be questioned. The ref was probably the cause of the booing.

I won't comment on the rights or wrongs of booing, other than to state that I don't believe in booing my own team, but surely the two posts above don't match up. Surely we come to support the team, not the ref or the beer, so if someone feels the need to boo them, how does that make them less of a supporter?

Who is the "we" who don't want these "so-called supporters" at Ravenhill?

yawn...deja vu! The supporter police are out!! they cry for passionate support , yet it is well known that the other side of a passionate personality, is evident frustration, such as a vocal demonstration such as , lets say booing!! when a human is passionate about something the disappointment experienced through the same event is often seen in the extreme, a human bi product of passion! so you can't have it both ways.

The only side playing slow boring rugby were the dragons

except on one occassion in the first half when Boss was looking for the forwards to take the dragons on up front and had to direct them before passing the ball out

It seemed to me he want an Ab ploy of 2- 3 forward rushes to engage and wrap up the dragons back row before bring the backs into play -- and the forwards couldn't decide who was the taker and who were supporting the carrier and it was slow labourous service from the base because of that

my view is basically we have a sound front five

a young back row with limited experience barring Dawson

eg Diack 22 first season in Ulster and ML
Matt about 1/2 a season playing 6
Pollock 1/2 season subing
Ferris injured
Anderson little or no ML experience

so at back row without Ferris there are no alternatives only players that prove cover options

But with the front five we should be competive and hope and wait for players to develop

the ball winners in the team are the front five the ball users are the middle five ( backrow and 5/8s ) and unfortunately for Ulster that is where are experience is lacking and the alternatives don't provide that experience either
2B or not 2B that is the question ?

Only on one occasion? I think not.

This waiting for the forwards to get organised has went on for quite some time and is now in at least a second season.

It is the main reason why Boss is continuously cited for slow service.
