Ref was very quick to blow when Ulster infringed...milliseconds and he was blowing. In contrast, whenever Ulster challenged for a turnover, he ALWAYS waited a couple of seconds.

Two major problems ( amontg the many many forward passes he missed) with the ref that no one seems to care about - If Nacewa was a yellow, then it was a pen try, as he was in - the cover defender wouldnt have got him.

Also, at the end, Boss was an eternity at the ruck. Lacey finally said use it, and BOD fell over onto the ruck....it went another 3 or four seconds yet he said nothing. Boss did the same at the end of the first half. Asked Lacey TWICE, trying to let the time run out, after he had said use it.

He's bloody weak as hell, and it was a terrible reffing perfromance overall, and quite biased whether he intended it or not.

Leinster the better team but this was winnable.

Congratulations to Leinster, a European and domestic double is a fantastic achievement.

I reckon it is something that Ulster can achieve with just a small % improvement, whether it is tactical, psychological or just a mastering of the 'dark arts'.

Subjective but then again plenty of penalty try decisions are. I wouldn't have given the penalty try.

Beaten by a very good team who know how to win big games and tight games.

As I suggested the other day Lacey will be a handy scapegoat but he didn't make the players do the silly things they did to be penalised and when Ulster were on top Leinster were penalised for pretty much the same type of offences. I saw a couple of errors from Lacey in the scrums which disadvantaged Ulster and a couple of marginal calls which I could raise a bit of a question about but on the whole my only gripe was he was a little bit too letter of the law and that may well have been down to the magnitude of the occasion. However he wasn't the one killing ball, laying offside, sneakily kicking ball on the ground or various other things. Sometimes one has to look at one's own team to see what went wrong, hard as that is.....and I am not always capable of doing that either after my team loses.
Cheers, Shan, the voice of reason from a slightly less biased supporter :thumleft:
It's the end of the season and I have been meaning to say this to you for some time.

Just back from game...gutted...was siting in Grandstand...great atmosphere, wonderful day, decent game of rugby. I haven't had a chance to read all posts but we beat ourselves in my opinion....Henry gave a few soft penalties away but was very good generally, how r Diak didn't get ball down beggars belief....they are a dam good team , hats off, though we had them in second half but they hung on...Ref for me was not a big problem thought he was harsh on us first half but we gave him easy decisions....Willaims was immense, Ruan, paddy, cave, Tommy, Rory, etc etc I am so proud of them and the supports who where there and out shouted and out sang very good leinster support - colour was great mix. Off now to drown my sorry ass.

On the telly (BBC) it sounded like Leinster were the only ones there.
Any more reports on noise levels of fans?

Paddy was superb, hopefully he gets his fair shot under Schmidt for Ireland against Madigan!

Despite the result, proud of the lads, but Leinster were better and deserved the win.

If the ref had been better we may have stood a chance, he did seem atrocious from the top of the North Stand. How on earth they couldn't have got Hodges or Poite or somebody else, but he should not have been Irish.

What do we need to work on for next season?
- Restarts are still iffy
- Need a cutting edge. Leinster had 2 genuine chances, 2 tries. We had 3/4 genuine chances, 0 tries. Telling at the end.
- I don't know how, but we need some way of winning finals. Twice we have been in a big final, and twice we seem to have bottled it. Any way possible, get these guys in a winning knockout mentality because on our day we have one of the best 23s in Europe.
- Get off to a quick start instead of playing catch-up :banghead:
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

Hard luck today to all the Ulster Men (and women).

I thought it was an extremely tight match and whoever lost was going to be sickened by it. Both teams had their chances, Leinster were left defending for long periods of the game, but I think that was the difference in the end, Leinster just had that bit more solid defence in their own half.

Nerve wrecking game, I had a sinking feeling Ulster were going to nick it at the end, we gave away some truly stupid penalties, but just about got away with it.

Two finals in two years, Ulster have come a long way in the last year and I suspect will go a long way next year. A great side, potentially could become the best in the not so distant future, definitely on an upwards curve.

A special mention for Paddy Jackson also, being honest I haven't really rated him at all since he came on the scene, but he had a superb game today, fair play to him.

Nice to see so many Ulster fans in town. Hard luck and hope you enjoyed the day despite the result.
