Think Hendo was ripped off as he will be with the full side next week

Feel bad for big Dan though. He gives his all!

Wasn't much of a match really which is par for the course in these games. Conditions were poor but none of our players stood out.

Henshaw coming off early is possibly an indication he will be on the bench v Scotland. He wasn't the worst out there.

Neither starting winger or Jones contributed anything positive. Henshaw and Cave were reasonable. The half backs poor with too much kicking, much of which was aimless and Madigan wouldn't know how to pass a ball if his life depended on it on tonight's evidence. Front row get a pass mark as do the second row and Murphy was about the best in the backrow despite only having 20 minutes. That might be more to do with coming on against tired players than to do with him, although I do think he is a very good prospect.

Henshaw off early was to allow Cave to play 13 where he excels week in week out. He also was excellent at 12 though it will be interesting to see just how much ball he was given by quiff

That he did. But he had no back row opposition. In fact Ireland had 3 back rowers on the pitch. England's tactics seemed to show none

Ah well, I can understand that; I'm a much more honest person myself, I prefer 'you can stick your f"*king chariots up your ----'.

Beardy talk show host Gerry Kelly, or Land Rover chasing Gerry Kelly, or both?
Never wrestle with a pig. You end up covered in muck and the pig loves it.

Wet ground Wet ball the game was never going to one for flowing back line moves hence the kicking game in 1st half with the wind in their backs

2nd half was basically defend the lead time into the wind

Murphy is an eye catcher in the
SoB mould but I would have a ? Against his pace at full international level and as a 6 he faces several players who command consideration before him

Ball in hand Copeland was fine again there are a few ahead of him

Interesting to see Diack subbing as a 2nd row not back row

Ireland are not short of options for 6 & 8 but mobile 2 rows are few @ the moment PoC is getting no younger McCarty is no spring chicken Toner is Toner a lighthouse maul watcher and D Ryan has a ? Against his fitness when he returns

My take is that at least 2 places have yet to filled in the WC squad in the 2 nd row

Hendo and Caveman certainly stuck their hands up for Joe's consideration and hopefully will feature in Joe's thoughts. Rob H had a good game too -did well at the breakdown as well as the set piece - the half time replacement was ominous though - still looks like Strauss after Cronin. Gilroy just didn't click on the night and looks sure to lose out to Zebo on the selection stakes. Big Dan did his usual workmanlike performance and did himself no harm - I'm just not sure if he did enough to secure a bench place next week. Robbie D did well when he came on - but not enough game time to make any real impact into the squad.
Hope is not a strategy.

really????? everyone here seems to think caveman played well? i was at the match. Given that Cave was one of the elder statesmen on the field i dont think he did a whole pile. after his big winge i expecting something special from him, it really wasnt evident from thesideline.I think the amount of caps reflects his ability. Good club player, he is playing at his level with Ulster, an unpolished gem he is not. without the benefit of tv I may have missed his unseen work, but he didnt stand out as someone bristling for a place on the senior team.
