RWC 2019 Draw

Post by Neill_M »

The pool draw for the 2019 RWC is May 2017. This means the summer tour matches, the autumn internationals and the 6N will all count towards the rankings of the teams for the draw. That is all.

So clearly, none of these games can be used for experimentation and tried and tested players will be selected (except for injury)

Ireland have 12 games between now and the rankings cut-off next May - details below:

(HOME, Away, Neutral)

June

Sat 11th South Africa
Sat 18th South Africa
Sat 25th South Africa

November

Sat 5th New Zealand
Sat 12th CANADA
Sat 19th NEW ZEALAND
Sat 26th AUSTRALIA

February

Sat 4th Scotland
Sat 11th Italy
Sat 25th FRANCE

March

Fri 10th Wales
Sat 18th ENGLAND

Could see them winning 50% of those (Canada, Australia, Scotland, Italy, France and England)

Which is why the past 6 Nations should have been used to experiment

But it was supposed to be drawn in December this year. You think John Jeffrey has had a wee word?

Wales play New Zealand x 3 in summer then Australia, South Africa, Argentina and Japan in November - not too many locked up wins there - can see why they would want the 6N included! :D
