Anybody remember the old Yates' Wine Lodges in Engerland about 30 years ago? The drink of choice was a half pint of a sweet sticky fortified wine known as "Australian White". The establishments had bare wooden floors which absorbed the spills and walking to the bar was like having velcro on the soles your shoes.
I can remember The Coachmans in Bangor being like this back in the day. The carpeted area surrounding the bar was what I would imagine fly paper is like to a poor unfortunate bluebottle.
I think that was called The Trident back in the days when I lived in Bangor.
But back to cider, if you get a chance to try Aspall, do so.
Lovely and refreshing, with a nice kick
I, Like Mervyn was always a fan of the Normandy ciders. Tastes like apples unlike the chemical muck like Magners etc.
Being an Armagh man I have been in cider heaven these last 5 years of so with the emergence of a number of locally brewed ciders, something the Orchard County should have been producing for many more years. The Armagh ciders are all very similar to the Normady ciders. Maybe UR would be better placed stocking the local products, supporting local business.
Some Hilden beers wouldn't go amiss either.
Sainsburys (I think I happily discovered this about Easter this year, about the same time that I unhappily discovered that Lidl had stopped doing white cider at 7.5%) have their own lovely dry cider (but made by Westons) at £2 a litre bottle and its 7.2% . Its beside the Magners which aint as strong and is a rather pricey £3 a litre bottle.

This thread is for cider DRINKERS
Do you not still just put strong cheap cider on your rice crispies for breakfast?
Hic ...... burp!
I'm not arguing -
I'm just explaining why I'm right
Look here chaps, I am about to start brewing my own cider for the first time in over 20 years, so maybe be a bit nicer or you wont get invited to the free sampling nite soiree at my Holywood mansion.
