Re: Joost van der Westhuizen
So very, very sad, especially for his wife, children, family and friends in the rugby world.
You can't put into words just how devastating it is to see someone struck down with this cruellest of all diseases.
I'm glad he is free from it now. RIP.

Re: Joost van der Westhuizen
Joost was a magnificent player who like many of the greats played as if his life depended on it.
Just for today I'm going to say he was the best 9 ever.
Very sad, I remember watching the documentary of big Jonah visiting him. Both gone far too young.

NEVER MOVE ON. Years on, I cannot ever watch Ireland with anything but indifference, I continue to wish for the imminent death of Donal Spring, the FIRFUC's executioner of Wee Paddy & Wee Stu, and I hate the FIRFUCs with undiminished passion.

Very hard to think of a better scrum half in rugby ever, Bagster.
Sad to see him succumb to a terrible disease at such a young age.

RIP Joost. Such a fantastic player to watch. They don't make nines like him anymore. Such a sad way to go.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?

I was in the company of a very long time friend on Saturday, was asking after my sister in law who is in the latter stages of MS & told me he's had a very young relative diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease within the last month. In Mrs T's childcare emporium there is a lovely wee girl of 6 who has cystic fibrosis and her parents are resigned to her dying before them. Pity we couldn't put more into seeking cures for these rather than equipping our armies to the degree of overkill, literally. Probably not the occasion for this but there you go, I very much doubt poor Joost would mind.

Fair play aul han!
Very sad to see another great of the game gone too young. A fearsome competitor with skill, passion and aggression in equally large measure. I loved watching him play the game on full throttle 100% of the time.
I'll just give the great man one of these:
Re: Joost van der Westhuizen
It's been very difficult seeing coverage of Joost today as we have a relative going through this terrible, terrible illness at the moment. That relative was fully able bodied 18 months ago but can now do nothing for themselves, it's horrific.BaggyTrousers wrote:There is one Rocky .......but not today.rocky wrote:Very hard to think of a better scrum half in rugby ever, Bagster.

I wouldn't wish MND on my very worst enemy.

Awful what he has had to go through. I am glad his pain and suffering has now come to the end.
Wonderful player. RIP.

Great player and a phenomenal competitor. Always loved watching him play.
His battle against such a debilitating illness was so sad to see, even though he gave it his all, just like on the pitch.
May he rest in peace
