Delighted with Gibbes and hoping for the best with Peel. I'm sure the expertise on this board and bakebook inform us of who we should have appointed. Anyone mentioning Pienaar or Eddie O'Sullivan is getting shat.
I have my own tv channel, what have you got?

Agree totally sometimes things happen that way.. hopefully this is one.

Peel a bit of an unknown quantity, Doak 14 + years of known garbage, guess who I'd rather have?

I'm willing to give Peel a chance. Given our impending issues at scrum half then he could prove a shrewd addition, providing mentoring in that area. Would also be great to see some youthful exuberance in our attack following too many years of Doakball.

Now, can Ruan play 12 games a year and operate the Niall Malone supercomputer of analysis?

Every time Corrigan came up we saw an instant improvement in the scrum.
Is the money or need there for a specialist scrum coach?

UR has now confirmed it

"Ulster Rugby has today confirmed that Dwayne Peel will take up the position of Assistant Coach from next season.

The Welshman, who currently operates as Backs Coach and Team Attack Coach at Bristol Rugby, has signed a two-year contract at Kingspan Stadium.

In his playing days, the former Llanelli, Scarlets, Sale Sharks and Bristol scrumhalf played a pivotal role in Wales' two Grand Slam successes in 2005 and 2008 and he also captained his country at the 2007 Rugby World Cup.

He represented the British & Irish Lions on the 2005 tour to New Zealand, starting all three Tests against the All Blacks.

Peel says he is excited by a new challenge in Belfast:

"I'm delighted to have this opportunity. Ulster is one of the big clubs in European rugby and I'm looking forward to working with a large contingent of quality players.

"Coaching was always a natural progression for me and I'm really enjoying my role with Bristol. Over the years I've spent time in different environments trying to pick things up that will benefit my career and this move to Belfast is another step in the right direction.

"I've talked with Les (Kiss) a lot over the past couple of weeks and it's exciting for me to work with someone of his calibre. I'm looking forward to getting started in the summer, but my focus will be with Bristol until the end of the season."

Commenting on the announcement, Director of Rugby, Les Kiss said:

"I'm very pleased that Dwayne will join us from next season. He's a talented coach who has a great understanding of the game and I'm really excited by what he will bring to our environment.

"It was obvious through my discussions with Dwayne that he has an exceptional coaching eye and he will provide us with refreshing insight and ideas.

"After Jono (Gibbes) agreed to join us, it was clear that Dwayne was going to be a great fit for our coaching group for next season. Once I identified Jono and Dwayne, the Ulster Professional Game Board was fully behind my decision, and Bryn (Cunningham) worked hard to ensure the deals were completed. They will both be terrific additions."

Hopefully he can bring on our current young scrum halves unlike our current ex scrum half.

Would Peel with one-arm be our best 9?

I'm worried that some moron will mistake Dwayne Peel for Mark McCall and send him death threats.

I don't understand all this 'if' with regards to Ruan. He is going, it is only a matter of when his club is announced and I suspect that Ruan has agreed to announced this to Ulster rugbys timetable, which means we will find out sometime after season ticket renewals

Well in every single other province they have one so I'd say so, and we probably have the weakest scrum of the Irish teams.

I hope this isn't the end of our coaching aquisitions. We are still one short.
