Is the money or need there for a specialist scrum coach?
Well in every single other province they have one so I'd say so, and we probably have the weakest scrum of the Irish teams.
Do Connacht have one?
Yep, Nathan White became theirs after he retired.

Kissy's interview on the beeb yesterday hints that there could be another coach.
'further decisionS will be made in the future' and also 'further decisionS and announcementS will be made in the coming weeks'

Who will be the BIG announcement to coincide with the sale of season tickets?

Now, can Ruan play 12 games a year and operate the Niall Malone supercomputer of analysis?
It's not your decision Colin >EW But anyway, despite my distaste for his having "used" Ulster in the past, let's hope he knows the difference between his arsehole & a hole in the ground.

Interesting from UR:
"After Jono (Gibbes) agreed to join us, it was clear that Dwayne was going to be a great fit for our coaching group for next season. Once I identified Jono and Dwayne, the Ulster Professional Game Board was fully behind my decision, and Bryn (Cunningham) worked hard to ensure the deals were completed. They will both be terrific additions."
So there you have it, Les Kiss's decision, he now assumes the mantle of fall guy/the buck stops here as indeed does the 6A bus. From the start of next season Les will have no hiding place, these are the guys he wanted - or as Cockers might correct me - the best he could get. Whatever way you look at it, these are his team. Results please Les.

And so, as the light fades and the sun goes down on the Ulster careers of Neil Doak & Allen Clarke who will open a thread to these departing souls and say a few kind words?

I'm actually delighted by these appointments.

If Jono cant get our pack playing decent hard as $@*! rugby then we are officially shyte - debate over - start supporting the Giants.
Ditching tweedele dee and tweedle dumb is a cause for rejoicing. It has more or less been proved that promoting local lads for local lads sake is a waste of paper and money and resources. Someone with Zero ties to school, region, club or any feckin wee sector of land we myopic Ulstarians get worked up ta feck about is fine by me.

Its now time to shyte or get off the pot!

Pity we hadn't made these changes ages ago instead of trying to fix the Titanic with duct tape.

Indeed, cannot wait to see a pack coached by Gibbes.

Steady folks. While Gibbes is a brilliant appointment, given the state of our pack right now, he isn't going to change it overnight. I don't think you'll see the full effect of his work until 2018/19 at the earliest.
You haven't seen me at my best yet. Let's be honest, you probably never will.

Peels appointment (and his relative inexperience) suggests to me that he has been brought in to follow and implement the coaching plan rather than come up with it himself.

With Kiss and Gibbes there as the brains trust I doubt they want another mouth.

Would nearly go as far as suggesting the current incumbents were too gobby and couldn't / wouldn't follow the plan.

With bringing youth into the coaching ticket you bring a guy on board who is not set in his own ways, who has not picked up bad habits and is open minded to others ideas.

I'd imagine works well for Peel also, as a young coach the opportunity to learn under Gibbes is massive. It would also indicate that someone has thought of a succession plan as in Peel would / could be in a place to step up in within 2/3 years time.

The way Ulster run their set up wouldn't surprise me if Doak and Clarke were retained. Can't have too many levels of management you know.

How ever hopefully it's a case of,

Who will be coaching the defence? That's Shirley a big concern?

The most important thing is to find an appropriate nickname for Dwayne. 'Orange' springs to mind ...I hope it doesn't turn into 'lemon' in a short space of time.

I would imagine that Peel has acquired his various coaching certs and there must have been something that enamoured him to L.K. As has been mentioned, perhaps the fact that he was - for a while - a decent s/h might have been part of it. He was like Beagle only good.

I suggested MarkMark2 given his likeness to Mark McCall, but judging by how it was roundly ignored I guess the jury is still out.

Scott Quinnell just described him as having a 'superb rugby brain'. He's hardly going to say otherwise but some fresh ideas and a new perspective will do our back play the world of good. Players would get sick of any coach after 2 years.
